So, it looks like HWID may be a thing, not entirely sure but sure enough to take some precautions.

Does anyone know of any budget rackmount solutions that can handle 1 instance of minimum WoW and HB? I found a few that technically exceed the minimum requirements for only $179-$199 which is actually pretty damn good for keeping overhead low, but hey, figure I'd ask the experts anyway (I understand a VPS could be useful but I really don't trust that they haven't been used for exactly the same thing that I intend to use them...for...for which to use...haven't been used for exactly the same thing for which I intend to use them?)

Any CPU with an integrated HD 3000 and above can handle 1 instance (and ofc more).

WoW is mostly about the CPU.
I've run 5 bots on a 2600K @ stock + AMD HD6450 (a really bad card). All in their own virtual machine and running 30FPS (capped) without a hitch.

Awesome! Thanks a ton, going to save a lot more than I originally thought

A 2600K is extremely overkill for 5 bots. Also the integrated graphics of the 2600K can handle 5 bots.

It would be interesting if someone could find a computer that can run wow for less than €75.

Atm I'm leaning towards running 5 bots on a G3258 or an A8-5600K. You might be able to get away with 4 gb ddr3, but I think maybe you'd need 8. This computer would run you roughly €230, new.

These processors can run 10 wows:
2600K
i7-920
1055t <-might struggle a bit.

The problem with VPS is that you need integrated graphics, and a VPS which such functionality is expensive. You could just buy a computer and probably break even after 3 months of owning it.

I understand completely your conundrum but buying a computer to run just 1 world of warcraft instance is expensive, and then you'd need a VPN on that connection too which will run you like 1-2€ a month. So you're probably thinking about single board computers, but none of these have the amount of storage for windows + wow and able to run it.

The most expensive part of a mega cheap computer is sadly the storage. The SSD or even mechanical harddrive is expensive for your purpose. It be hard to get away with less than €30 for 80> gb storage. Which is pretty much what you need.
I managed to build a computer excluding storage for less than €100 that will easily run 1 wow instance and windows 7. Using A4-4000 socket FM2 processor. But with Storage that jumps to €150 for a SSD. And then the difference between this computer and a computer that can easily run 5 instances of wow is just 50% more, i.e €230ish.

For rack solution I took the wine stand from IKEA and took my grinder to it and 3d-printed parts to fit the psu/hdd and then just used zip ties on the rest :) Picture below:
This was €25 for me and holds 10 computers, though regular sized motherboards.

Note that I am not done with it, I am going to take another trip to IKEA and buy some filter cloth fabric they have for sale - then wrap it in it.

I want to clarify one thing. Most people on these forums don't know jack all about optimizing wow for minimum cpu usage. So when someone says I can run this on that etc...It's usually with just lowering your wow settings ingame.

If you instead lower the settings manually in the config.wtf file you can usually get a lot more performance. Though some dungeons bug out if you lower the farclip too low. There are also programs to shut off rendering completely, though I don't use these as I have no need for em.

Awesome post =) I guess you're right it wouldn't be too cost effective to go 1:1, but as long as my farm is large enough, running 5 per machine shouldn't be TOO bad because even in the case of the HWID ban I would only lose 5 accounts, and not my entire farm. I don't think I'd bother too much with having 5 different installations of WoW on each one though considering if running 5 accounts on the same installation was a red flag they would waste a lot of time on legit multiboxers, same goes for 5 different VMs on each machine, because that sounds hassle as fuck tbh, if this is an absurdly misinformed statement let me know.

Looks like there's a combo deal on newegg for the G3258 and GIGABYTE GA-B85M-DS3H-A mobo, and you can get 1tb HDDs off amazon for like $50 which is most likely what I'd do, and then the 500W EVGA PSU (best seller) for $38, cheap heatsinks/fans are easy enough to find so you're right, looks like $250 at the very MINIMUM for each computer, but if each can run 5 bots you're looking at profit in no time.

At the moment while I wait for my runescape farm to piddle out I'm researching as much as I can for farming WoW. RuneScape gold farming is INSANELY HIGH MAINTENANCE and managing over 50 accounts (let alone 80) is just...forget about it. I have 2 friends who help me with it and without them I couldn't do it at all, just not enough time in the day, in return we split salary 3 ways

Damn you guys take this shit seriously, thanks for the input, some nice insight here.
I'm now tempted to build something insane and just see how it goes XD

Serious as a heart attack, it's our business, for me personally it's how I pay for my house, my car, the things I want, the food for my family. And it's fun as HELL.

You ever have that wish that you could clone yourself and send your clone to work for you and still collect the paycheck? Well this is that wish, with some challenge added in (some games die for months as far as botting goes, so you need to be able to spring back)

I know, but I only have access to 6 sessions :)
It's my FTP/Personal netflix/15TB Storage server with plenty of CPU/RAM to spare.
I was just going max paranoia with VeePeeEns etc on everything and testing a 5 man setup.

So far my botting has purely been for personal gain in that I bot enough for WoW Tokens and a bit of extra Gold for other crap. The issue there being that It hits my personal investment in those accounts hard if they get banned. as such i put in the time of running this stuff on my laptop that work on and constantly monitor it,

Now I'm seriously considering taking it a step further maybe not to that scale aha but I think it could be a fun little project, Start with one,get addicted then scale up xD Again thanks for this bit of insight!

Better go with a cheap 120gb SSD than a 1TB mechanical tbh. Even if it is only €50. Ofc this is if you're not planning to use the 1TB yourself after a year or so.
