Wow + More Devs, faster Update Cycle, change in practice?

I'd love to see a subscription based model used if that meant the HB team could grab a few more devs and some of the community projects would be built-in to HB. However, if growth isn't needed / wanted... I don't really see a point in a subscription model. HB has a community that is currently strong enough that growth isn't a requirement.

I remember reading a post (maybe from Bossland actually) a while back stating that it wasn't the money which prevented hiring more devs, it's the lack of people who have the required knowledge and skill to work on an application like Honorbuddy/Demonbuddy/Tankleader etc. I'm sure if you can find someone who knew ASM/Reversing/Memory Manipulation/Game Developing knowledge, Bossland and Hawker would be interested to speak to them. Most of the people who have the required knowledge are already on BosslandGmbH's payroll.

I agree - i would LOVE to see a subscription build with HB to allow for a better working bot -- ACTUAL content in the form of Combat routines, farming profiles, battle ground love.... If this would allow for the team to focus more on the needs of the botter - i'd be all about it

Combat Routines / Profiles / Plugins were always created by the community, ever since the API was introduced. The scene is slowly (and sadly) changing to a 'pay for product' scene, and the content is become more scarce because those of us who develop things for free are less inclined to do so. As a prime example, the PureRotation team have spent thousands of hours combined now to develop a superior combat routine that covers every class and spec. Combined we've probably received $100 in donations in total. Other developers can write a routine for 1 specialization, charge $15 for it, and make thousands of dollars. Those of us who write the free products get dis-heartened.

If people want more content, then take a look at the code behind some existing profiles/plugins/routines and have a go yourself. I looked at writing a profile for the first time 2 days ago, and it's actually pretty damn easy. I've now got a half-arsed working black temple farm (which i'll be releasing free once I've tuned it).

I am going to do my best not to break and rules of the HB forums and I've long been a proponent of them taking their time to make the bot 100% stable AND safe. This post is not about the current down time at all, just happened to be a good time to ask a few questions.

1: MMOChampion has confirmed with blue posts that Wow has more Devs at work on the game than ever before. Also with the "pause" on Titan some Devs have been redistributed to current projects. One of those listed was WoW. Implying even more devs at work on this great game. This is awesome and I'm very happy because with MoP we've seen some big changes and more to come.

2: With this said, at what point can we ask the question what will HB do about this increased release cycle? Will it affect things from a technical standpoint? I'm not a programmer, but I am a customer whose willing to pay a subscription fee for the things I like and enjoy.

3: Why is HB a one time payment? I can not imagine you wouldn't make more with a subscription. Honestly a smaller player base (smaller footprint in wow) and more revenue would only be betetr for the bot wouldn't it? Only those committed to HB would stick around for very long as customers.

I probably broke some rules of the forums, but I'm not bitter and this is not a hate thread. Honestly the hate will be at me most likely by all the cheap bastards who just bitch and moan and want a perfect product that they already paid and got use out of. I like the idea of an on going subscription giving people the right to complain, but also you as devs (revenue) to hire more people to get the work done faster possibly?

If you give the devs the idea of making HB a sub I will hack your computer, get all your personal info, fly to your house, and lightly slap you on the wrist while saying "tiss tiss, shame on you!"

1) Not sure what to say here to be completely honest. Yes, they have more devs. And yes, they'll be pumping out content quicker. (Probably because of their subscriber drops, they won't be able to afford a new game release)

2) We'll do the same thing we've been doing. Updating as quickly, and safely as we can. We don't always throw the entire dev team here at WoW when it patches. More often than not, just one of us is plenty to update the bot within a couple hours. However, during bigger patches (or ones with sneaky stuff), we tend to put more people on it to get it done quicker. Contrary to popular belief, we work on all of our bots 7 days a week. We don't ignore any of them.

3) Honestly, I don't know. I don't handle the money stuff here. But I'm sure Bossland/Hawker have a good reason to use a one-time payment strategy.

As CJ said, we normally don't mind people speaking their minds. And we'll never delete a thread just because we disagree with it. (We disagree with a lot of threads on these forums) We'll only remove things if they're breaking the rules, or just plain not necessary.

That explaines it dude. You have ONE person doing the update. And btw you DO delete posts because you disagree or you just close them to piss us off even more. Dont know whos crying rly???

Honestly, It seem's to me that Honorbuddy isn't going to be as high of a priority as it was in the past. I give it a year before update takes 2-4 maybe 5 days. Not complaining about the down time by the way. Just what I think. Even the forums are left at a free for all these days.

Updating HB to work with WoW after a patch takes a few hours. But the last 2 patches have included things that force us to stop, assess and take time to work around them. If we could release the working bot, we would. As of now, we can't. Expect something in the next few hours.

Awsome m8 just awsome..

i like the lifetime keys myself no need for a sub and i prob wouldnt pay for it thats main reason i wont use the Buddywing.

I'm actually pretty concerned with the latest update in the $17055 update thread about the new detection methods. I received my first ban ever and I've been botting on the same account since vanilla starting with Glider. Hawker is there anything else you guys can release about this?

There is no way your ban is related to what has been activated in the last mini patch since HB didn't run after the patch was applied.

We don't really want to talk about the changes in WoW.

Okay so the new detections were implemented after the patch wednesday morning? I was banned wednesday morning. I'm pretty sure HB closed my WoW when the tripwire shut HB down from the update.

EDIT: If that is the case, then I'm farily certain what got me banned...and it had nothing to do with HB/GB/ProfessionBuddy.

FYI, you were DCed when the servers have shutted down for restart, and even with relogger, the HB client was not possible to be attached to the WoW client after the update, due to the versions mismatch.
So, explain, how the tripware would activate back then?
And another tip - when the tripware activate, we all would know, but it seems, your the only one with tripware up here?

I just posted a post that had some offensive language and for that I am sorry but I was merely stating that all the money that Hb has made off of there product why cant they hire more people to get this a 24/7 working progress. Seems to be that blizzard has stepped it up but Hb is playing a rat race that they are not winning. When I started in cata I was super happy with how much time I got to use it with the few down times that we had. Now in mop it seems to me that blizzard stepped it up and HB is down almost as much as it is up. So to ask what the original post asked what does HB plan on doing to counter blizzards more aggressive approach on catching you. Im just wondering because I love the bot but im for one getting tired of all the down time.

@Stoyo I am sorry to tell u this but more devs dont ensures that we have an product that works at all times. I dont know for how many times the the wowservers been down after both minor and major updates and crashes when ur in or entering instanses. when they came with cataclysm they made a major change in how the data was handle and that really made it harder for the bot develuper to keep up with the wow updates but u see that is all in bliz strategy to try to keep botters of as long as possible after each patch and if possible making the botters tired of waiting in the process so all whiners plz try just to calm down and do something else while waiting for the bot to come back up. I dont write much or at all but I also belive that it is not fair to flame the devs, if ur not happy then try to make ur own bot and see how easy it is to maintain with all patching bliz does. I think the devs does a tremendus job keeping up and actually manage to relese an uppdated bot in such short time as they do allready. to the devs just keep up the good work and dont haste it out :)

/BigBoy

I have absolutely no problem to take my break for a few days if I have to. For me it would be much more pleasant experience to go out drinking than to raid w/o LR. However, if I go out drinking and the bot comes back and I miss a raid that I waited for a week, i will be pissed. So yeah, I prefer my LR raiding to drinking. And I prefer my drinking over regular raiding. Which one to choose when I don't know when the bot is comming back? Got my point? ETA, ETA,ETA! If we have it we plan our day and our week and we don't sit here bitchin in the forum.

omg dont you lot get it becuase the bot isnt working we have to do thing the way they was ment to be done and play are toons

ITS THE END OF THE WORLD HOW DO I PLAY THIS GAME

You smacked it on the head "rat race", WoW is being updated more than Cata was.. so hence more downtimes. Since these guys always have to play catch up you will have to have downtime. I am grateful for downtime because, it means they are working out the kinks. Maybe at the same time they are implimenting something new into HB. The more agressive WoW wants to be, the longer your downtimes will be. You can throw as many devs at this update, but doesn't speed up the process of test and detection. Stable versions (for even betas) are much needed. You will be complaining more if something detrimental were to happen to your computer or to your account.

That's not what we meant but if you feel the need to use bold faced caps by all means ty it makes it easier to see.

Just to point something out, which may have confused a few people...

When I say there's usually just one of us updating HB after a patch, it's because not much has changed. Our tools to update between patches will typically do 85% of the work for us, within 15 minutes of analyzing the new binaries. However, we have a bunch of addresses that we check manually (sometimes, we're able to check a few key ones, and if they don't change, neither do the rest. However, if we miss one, we can change it later anyway, without a new build required), which takes a little bit of time. There's no reason to send all of us to update HB when the bulk of the time taken, is just analyzing the new binaries and diffing with our old ones. When there are "big" changes (like this last patch), we will have more of us on the patch doing things. But generally, any patch (for basically any bot we have) takes no longer than about 2 hours to update for. Again, that's excluding "big" changes (or sneaky/annoying ones). The majority of the downtime is making sure we didn't miss anything (typically another 30min-2hrs) before we do a beta release for the masses to ensure our own testing didn't miss anything.

So again, just because we don't throw all of us on an update patch, doesn't mean we're slacking. It's just a waste of time for us all to work on something that doesn't require us to work on it. (Btw, all of us, no matter what bot we're currently focusing on, are constantly adding new things to all of our bots. Whether it's publicly noted or not. We never stop development on our products.)

And as someone (Sorry, I forgot who) stated, anybody with the knowledge to keep up with these types of applications, are more than welcome to talk to Hawker or Bossland. We're always looking for help! (But, that help has some pretty high requirements, considering the products we sell)
