Best explanation is as follows:

I lost power during an automatic update, then it wouldn't load. Would just freeze and I forgot what the error message was (about 1 month ago).

I completely uninstalled (had done that many times) and downloaded again. I unzip it to folder and everything shows up in the unzip but the program itself. I manually drag the program folder into the desktop folder from the zip download and it shows up but won't run.

Things I have done so far to try and fix this:

Updated Windows
Uninstalled C++ and reinstalled it
 
Tony, I uninstalled the entire folder and now I just have the zip file installed on my desktop location so no log file available because the game hasn't procced one.
 
when trying to run bot what happens?

no but I went into full properties and enabled all and now I get a user message that says:

Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the approprate permissions to access the item.


I am running it as admin, so I don't know what that means.

still same problem. shows DB icon in zip and then when I unzip to c drive it is gone, I drag it from the zip folder manually and it still won't work. I am going to reboot my system think. I assume the problem is with java, adobe or some other media crap.
 
are you logged in as admin on the machine?

Ya, I have to take tower in today to have my on board Graphic card turned off. I am fairly certain it was a malware program that has caused this problem. The initial problem was the program jamming up from not completing the update but I ran a new virus program after that and I think it shelved the program as a virus and is blocking its ability to be unzipped and even manually dragged out of the zip folder and ran. Will be up and running today and will update you then.
 
well, so far so good. I am waiting for the game to upload but the factory reset seems to have done the trick. When I unzipped it, it showed up like it normally does! I think it was the virus program that shelved it and made my computer unable to read it. Problem solved, if in the future someone else is as dumb as me now you know a fix.
 
ok, so... fixed the install problem. now it starts up, I put in my key and it says 'demon buddy has stopped working'..... then it dies. I restart, and of course I get max sessions if I try again, but it doesn't die just keeps letting me try, try again.
 
did the uninistall, re-install and updated like suggested in the other post and updated windows and it is working now!....
