I am willing to bet that blizzard is scared its starting to lose its core players as the years go on. How long can one play? I emagine their whole life. But as life happens, no different then it has happened to me. You grow up, you get married, you have kids... you bot while you do house work.

I would love to see the numbers on how many people are not playing the game anymore.

i know some friends that have mac's... and they scripted their outline out for some pvp battlegrounds... married, child expected (most of them are married).

it's crazy

at least i know that when they don't respond, they're botting and not ignore me =P a lot of my guild bots, or at least supports botting :) <3 my guild

Scripted a pvp battleground? Like they actually queue rated battlegrounds and win? without being noticable? nice

Been botting since 19*cough*cough* in SMAUG MUDs using Zmud to script PvP battles so from then till now all i have done really is bot MMOs. Don't get me wrong, i also play them, I love raiding with my guild etc. And i have never botted for profit always for fun/learning stuff. Though i guess you could say i bot for ingame profit (flasks, enchants, blahblah) but that really is just a nice side benifit as far as i am concerned.

Me and wife have been playing wow since Beta and i started botting it with wowsharp and haven't stopped. I guess i will have to when accounts are running $200 a piece. Wouldn't have thought it would EVER be $100 back in Vanilla time but the cheapest as of now that i can find is $103 for everything offgamers Not turning this into a cheapest where thread or trying to advertise feel free to remove link if not allowed. Just backing up my statement :p Once i decide it's too expensive i will stop. Of course i have no idea yet exactly what 'too expensive' is but $200 sounds about right.
I am sure wife will let me know for sure though ;)

And all of that is only *IF* i get banned for one reason or another. Other than that i guess i will stop when i feel like it. *shrug*

OT: I have been hit with waves from Glider and OB and banned with various other bots and wife has NEVER lost her account yet. She doesn't bot. Lesson to be learned :D

Anyone know anything ? I am still wondering what the charts look like in terms of clients whom still play. I really wonder if there is a trend indicating a drop off in subscriptions to the game of world of warcraft.

its funny i actually plays this game less than 6 hours a month now mostly just arena for points.... sometimes i wonder why i still pay for this game. the rest of the time i just bot......
actually i enjoy botting more than actually playing the damn game....

Your logic is funny. You think people will grow old and stop playing this game, why you don't think about kids that grow up and start to play this game ? Maybe the new wave of customers can replace the old one, or even outnumber it ? As long as Blizzard can do the job right, they can keep the market share and stay as the market leader of the MMO games market.

Anyway, I agree that this game is getting old, you cannot kill dragons and undead for another 5 years long. People need some fresh air.

Well if I recall.. Blizzard is planning two more expansions? So thats another 2 years of WoW. By that time maybe they will have World of Warcraft 2 in the works. Who knows. But yeah.. my guild, and even my realm are like ghost towns lately. Cataclysm just seems to have killed off the population. Probably their best expansion yet, but it just burned people out. Maybe it was the rehashing of old dungeons.

My prediction is that by then they will push wow as a more competitive pvp oriented game like sc just so it lasts that much longer. Also to the OP I just now started playing again quite a bit and I'm enjoying it. No plans on stopping any time soon.

They already have Starcraft Online in development, it will be based on Halo universe, and will be the main card to compete with other sci-fi MMORPG (for example: Knight of the Old Republic...). Yeah, 5 years of swinging swords and magic is already enough, now I want laze guns, spaceship and high-tech stuffs.

Many companies invest into console games, just look at the old CoD and the latest; They just port the damn game from the console to PC just to fill the needs of the PC players without any support whatsoever.
Atm WoW holds all the card for future game development, when WoW shuts down then the players will fill other games which will hopefully flourish into a great game like WoW once was.

EQ has been around for what, 12 years now? I don't expect wow to go extinct any time soon.

i got sick of WoW a long time ago (middle of BC) and I only started up again because i found honorbuddy near the end of last year haha.

i really need a new game, ive tried rift and my computers too bad to run it (only get 9fps :( ) just waiting on diablo 3!

agree with posts. this expansion has been fun, but feels like players consumed content quick and I don't see people investing 100s of personal hours for raiding as much I have experienced when a hard core raider over the years. The several servers I have toons are not filled up like they used to be every night. I little if ever play wow now by hand except for some raiding.

Ultima Online-Release date September 24, 1997-Still Active
Everquest-Release date March 16, 1999-Still Active
WoW-Release date November 23, 2004

UO, a game released 7 years prior to WoW still has enough active subscribers to keep it profitable enough to operate. While the subscription numbers may decline, I expect you'll still see WoW servers up and running for a long time to come. When the base falls off, they'll do like EQ has done and start merging servers to keep server pop levels up and decrease equipment/maintenance costs....but it'll still be here.

Umm i have not heard anything about SC becoming a mmo. They have signed up folks for another universe which has yet to be talked about in public, no diablo no sc and no warcraft, its brand new.

As much as I like playing WOW, if I were forced to run the same quests over and over again to level toons, then run the same starter level dungeons over and over again for gear drops, farm by hand endlessly to make enough gold to buy flasks, enchants, etc. then I would probably not be playing as much as I do now. Doing it on one toon was bad enough, to do it on all ten that I have now would drive me crazy.

Although I never bot my main account, I do have several farmer accounts to support my main account and the toons on it. The prices of decent gear and enchants/flasks are so outrageous in Cata that I don’t see how anyone but botters can afford to get anything good.

That said, I can see WOW continuing for many years to come. I know a great deal of players who have multiple toons, all hand leveled, who run dungeons all the time and, for them, the game is more a social outlet. WOW is a good game with lots of content and a large fan base. It will be around for a while yet.

Why would blizz be scared? They will continue to make more games. They are already rich and will continue to gather people to play their games. You act as if there aren't more young children in the world and whenever you played is the only generation playing wow
