I have the same CPU as you, I can easily get up and run 5 VMs without any problem. On the 6 VM the load will be 100% on CPU.
Besides the CPU, I have 24GB RAM, 120GB SSD and a GTX 750Ti.

I recommend to change the stock cooler.
idk how, i have the same setup and 4 is just my maximum (and still epic fps drops )
you use windows 7? Did you using some solutions to make vm\poe\eb work better?

Make sure your virtualiation is turned on "enabled" on your mother board (bios settings). Sometimes the name doesn't even have "virtual" in it, its vander pool, or something like that. Also I assume these guys are running there machines overclocked, which is a huge advantage. I have a i7 3770k cpu, and reading all these guys with welfare cpu's running just as much as i was got me thinking. So I rechecked my whole system, and it turns out my cpu wasn't even overclocked, nor did it have that virtual setting turned on. My must have reset it to default when I got my computer again
