WoW 64 Client Performance Test
After reading in another post (which has been closed, due to explanation about DX9/DX11, that's not what this is about, so please also don't hyjack this thread for it!) that a 64 bit version of World of Warcraft is coming out, made me wonder how compatible is HB gonna be with this 64 bit version.
Mind you I have no experience running a 64 bit OS (never had a need to), but as my laptop slowly starts to perform worse and worse in games (due to age and components, it has 3 years on it already), I'm looking into ways to gain improvements elsewhere (I can upgrade to 6GB ram, change the CPU to a X9100 for a 1 Ghz total increase in CPU speed, make use of SSD's etc).
I'm currently running on a 32 bit OS (Vista Ultimate Legal). Reading posts on the 64 bit version shows improvement on the FPS front and ofcourse the bigger memory increase will also benefit the game and virtual GPU memory.
Switching to a 64 bit OS (I have Vista Ultimate also in 64 bit, and 7 Ultimate is a option for me. I have it lying around here from another laptop anyways), but I want to make sure the trouble (of re-installing everything, finding the right drivers for all hardware etc) is outweighed by the benefits of running the 64 bit system and that it's compatible in the future with HB and WoW.
So consider this a bit of preliminary research.
