It is also a bit faster than the 4790k. As eagles stated, it does not make much sense for you to completely switch platforms (mobo, ram, etc) when all you really need to do is upgrade the CPU.

if you gonna get a new cpu, shouldn't you get an i7 7700k over an i7 6700k ? sure the difference is only a slight upgrade, but the price difference is next to nothing.

He could as they are both the same socket architecture.

7700K and 6700K are identical in performance per GHz. Literally the same. 7700K is only better in terms of thermals and overclock sealings. Both at 4GHz are 99.9% the same performance. Unless you are overclocking to 4.8GHz+, buy whichever that's cheaper.

7700k says 4.20 GHz base and 4.50 GHz max while 6700k says 4.00 GHz base and 4.20 GHz max

For like 15 euro more I'll buy the 7700k

I use SSD's and have had zero problems. SSDs are cheap.
