Is The I7 3930k worth the pricetag? Over the I7 3770k? For Botting.

What are the benefits that the 3930 will give you over the 3770?

Is it worth the price difference?

I7 3770k = $265

I7 3930k = $500

The absolute best? Probably the 3960X costs like $1,000

i7 3770k or i7 3930k, a more expensive CPU is just waste. If you want more power then those can deliver, build another computer.

Intel fanbois say i7 3770k is the best. IF you roll with an Intel chip, make sure it ends in 'k' - as those are unlocked for overclocking.

Honestly though, if the PC is strictly for botting, I think you would see comparable performance out of an AMD chip at half the price. Of course, I prefer Intel chips myself - I'm just telling you what's cheaper/more efficient for a botting rig.

i was looking to build an i7 3770 or i7 3930 but having a hard time judging their capabilities.

just built an i5 3570k oc'd to 4.4 and its not really performing as i had hoped. its at 80% on 8 clients with spikes in the 90's.

if an i7 can run 14-16 for $100 more i sure wish i woulda known that.

and then to compare i7 3770 to 3930 ... 3930 is 20+? for $500? id prolly just build 3770's unless i was going really big time and space was an issue or the 3930 can handle 25-30.

hard to theorycraft these things. would help for actual users to chime in.

Question rather should be : how many bots do you plan to run ?

With an i7-3930K u can run up to 30x DB (only with Trinity). But, and i tell it again in big letters, BUT: ONLY if u build the system right. 3gb Grafix, 32gb Ram, Crucial SSD and a highly optimized Windows for pure botting. Most users here cant run even a handful bots, because their system is crap. Check all the pictures here. U can see task's with 100+ running programs and the ppl are wondering why their systems are so slow. Read the guides here or on google. It explaines everything to setup your windows.

But main-question is: Do u want a 2k euro system which can handle 20-30 bots. Is one of these bots is flagged, bliz will take down everything. If u have 2 systems for each 1k euro with 10-15 bots each, u have a 50/50 chance that one system can survive ;)

So it seems that aside from considering AMD.

My options are I7 2700k i7 3770k and I7 3930k

I can get an I7 2700k for 190 euros.

I can get an I7 3770k for 210 euros.

I havent dug hard into the I7 3930k but a quick google search shows around 360 euros.

What would you do if it happened to you?

Realisticly looking at a 10-16 bot setup.

Also worth noting. Im making 2 systems and buying 2 of every part I pick.

Definitely i7 3930K with 16GB of DDR3
Why would you go with only 16GB with a 3930K? RAM is dirt cheap and you should definitely get 32GB for a processor of that caliber because you will max out 16GB easily with it.

very good watercooled 3970x, overclocked to smth. like 4.8-5 gHz.

Ebay is your pal:

used intel core2 quad $50
used asus MB $50
used 16gb ddr2 $100
used 250gb HD $25
used case & 500w PS $30
used GeForce 280 GTX $70

total: $325

This will run 8 bots at about 85%-90% cpu usage. I could build like four of these for less than half of what a new rig would cost and have 32 bots running. I don't think you could build a single rig that would run 32 bots for under $3000.
