What makes you more money Mining+Herbing or just Mining?

I notice that maybe just mining is actually more time efficient than doing mining+herbing. i was doing wintergrasp profile, and while my toon wasted time herbing, the other bots were collecting more valuable ores.

Has anyone tested profit of herbing+mining vs. mining only?

Ores are worth consistent amounts, herbs seem to vary alot more at least on my servers. I gave up herbing long ago and now only mine ores.

On my server, saronite is pretty cheap and the herbs are worth just as much. So Herb + Mine is much better, but my server may not be the norm.

Saronite typically sells for 36g a stack. Most herbs sell for that.

I mean herbs just subtract gold from your total, obviously.

You are losing money if you don't add a crafting profession to the mix.

Mining + Herbalism + JC + Alchemy

You can make flasks, transmute an epic gem every day, transmute those saronite bars if the market for titanium is better. Your JC can try for an epic gem every day, and he can cut the epic you get from the transmuter for more profit, also he can cut blues and list them as well (they sell better than you would think)

Gathering is great, but combine it with a couple crafting professions and it gets much much better. If you add in an enchanter to DE junk you make with green gems/eternals, and an engineer to make arrows from eternals.. well, you see where its going.

It isnt hard to max a profession with this bot as your supplier, and it increases your profits substantially.

i bot on 4 different servers. my chars get both ore and herbs. My herbs make almost double any ores. I wont say whats the best herbs but if you do your homework you can easily make more gold and make it faster with herbs

ok, ill make a couple of LVL 55 DK on one of my bot accounts, lvl him up to 65 which is the minimum to get most maxed out professions. and assign him to alchemy/jewlcrafting and the other eng/ench

Definitely server dependent. Just find out what generally sells for the most in Herbs/Ores and then check up on them in AH. Some days herbs are better, and some days ores are.
