what is the best way to update EB ?

so last time I did an update it wiped everything.. that sucked. Anyone know of a better way ? I have seen an option for an autoupdater.exe is that a thing ?
 
Not that I know of but I think you may have done something wrong because that has never happened to me. how did you update? did you try opening the bot and then it did it's own update or you came to the website and downloaded a new version?
 
I downloaded the new version and replaced the files with the new zip. that didn't work so I copied my 3rd party folder into a new unzip and lost everything.

How do I update via the bot ?
 
autoupdate does not mess with use settings,it was a glitch probably
 
after a patch there will be downtime and it will (as the name implies) automatically update. You just have to hit yes/ok/accept/whatever on the bottom of the updater
 
I don't have an updater... that's what I'm saying....
 
Bro if you are thinking it's another program it's not. Just wait for the next patch and it will pop up without you doing anything
 
ok... It didn't do that with the last update... all it did was print a red error and gave me a link to the buddy forums...
 
Yeah it does that for everyone they have some glitch with the updater. Just run EB as admin and it should work...untill it doesnt...then restart your PC and pray. That happened to me and after a couple restarts it worked.

@pushedx There is still no fix for the updater right? It is just janky? looks like more and more people are hitting errors when updating.
 
Here you go man GGG is pushing out a patch. a couple hours after the realm comes up (usually) there will be a patch from EB fixing the connection and you can try doing what i said
 
Never had any problem with the updater. But I always backup my settings directory, you never know when shit happens.

Yeah better safe than sorry if you haven't had a problem with the updater you are lucky
 
copy these two folder from EB

- Settings
- 3rdParty


whenever u do fresh install just replace these two, You'll be fine.
