What is a combat bot?

Can anyone explain to me what it does exactly? My guess is that it allows you to walk while it runs the cc's combat functions?

I know some people have a bot follow them in bg and heal. How do they do it? Can it be done in instances? i instance with my friends and that would be a great help? Can dps do the same?

Sorry for so many questions just wanted to get it out there and see if I can get quick answers.

Not sure about the combat bot... But, the following in BG and heal and instances is ez.

Just get a CC that supports RAF (most do support healbots) and choose "RAF" from the dropdown menu. And yes, DPS works the same.
