you must have gold...Doesn't matter how much... you can get 1 gold and you can use it ..

We require premium because it makes botting profitable across the board, not just on tier 6 and lower. And the reason we tolerate having gold on your account as premium is because the game itself flags your account as "premium" if you have gold on it, we can't tell the difference.
