What are decent ways to cover gatherers?

Ok. I lost some accounts a lil while back and i was supervising them most of the time. I think the issue was they were solely gathering (6-8 hours a day, breaks around 3-4 hours to split in two sessions.) I dont want to supervise the new accounts, and was wondering what actions i could take to "mask" that its just a gold botting account. Anyone know any profiles or things i could run to make it look like its actually progressing like a char, without having to supervise or lazyraider them? Thanks.

This is a great question and I'd like some opinions on it as well. I've had druids banned within 2 days of hitting 90 and herbing. Maybe blizz has my hardware ids or cc being tracked, but aside from that I use my own profiles. Considering giving up on herbing/inscript method since I'm not getting anywhere.

NPH triggers an auto script.

You probably just got reported while bot leveling and it kicked in 2 days after you hit 90.

This is surely an interesting thread that I would love to get an answer to aswell.... The best I could say is farm some achievements when you're bored, pvp, etc? lol

Botting is less safer for people trying to make a profit out of selling gold. You sir have a asked a very good and hard to answer question.

There's really no safe way to mask them. My first and most important thought is to make your own farming profiles. Avoid people, they report botters quickly because it's competition. So Nodes per Hour comes with a huge drawback: risk. I'd rather have a low NPH and be safe than have a super high NPH and be banned fast. Try botting in low pop zones.

Might not be worth the time, but maybe try using 2-3 ( or more ) different mules per account... that way when someone sees you it's not always the same char. Maybe set up your relogger to switch toons/profiles every hour or 2. This would look more realistic to me..

edit: Oh also, with the 5.3 changes leveling up herb/mine will be super easy since it can be done all in panda land.

I agree that you wish to create your own farming profiles - a good plugin for this process is here: ZapRecorder for Gatherbot.
Periodically you will want to run a dungeon or two; the user of HRrelog can make this process very simple while jumping between profiles.

Some additional useful plugins, and mind you this list can be long and hopefully others give their opinion, are:
Temporarily Blocking Nodes Surrounded By Monsters
Shut Up - Be Like A Human

There you go.

I'm no expert, but things I do include:

Level fishing and fish
Level the farm and cooking (this includes tillers dailies using the MOP dailies bundle)
Different gathering routes

To be honest it would all be a waste of time, if your only purpose with the account is to make money. If enough people reports you and Blizzard decides to investigate you can have done as much covering and masking as possible, but if they verifies that you're botting, game over.

I use it to make gold, but im not reckless. Last time they were private profiles 6-8 hours a day, with a break. Guess im just looking for other activities that i can run for maybe 4 hours to give the appearance of character development, without having to baby sit. Dont really want to hand play them at all. Any suggestions?

As I said, it would be a waste of time. If a GM investigates and catches you botting, you are going down. If you are not gonna monitor them at all, you have no chance what so ever to survive, so why bother at all spending time on something that will not get you any richer. You might aswell be gathering the whole 12 hours, instead of wasting 4 of them on completely useless stuff. Thats just my opinion.

Blizzard is taking gathering very seriously now. there is no safe way to gather anymore even selfmade/private profiles are getting banned like crazy. iv lost 8 accounts due to gathering.
people are even getting banned for 1-600 herb/mine profiles. The only successful way to gather that i know of and not get banned is doing it manually or 30mins-60mins and that still might even get you banned

Not true. Ive had 4 total bans within last few months. 3 "the action has been upheld" and one overturned multiple times already. All gathering, all same profile, server, ip, hardware id, mac address etc. Only difference: the one that has been overturned after appeal was played by hand during downtime, had achievements, character progression, etc. Other 3 stood no chance. By your logic i should just run 24/7 until banned? -- in reply to Pwn

Then you misunderstood what I said. Lets say you have a schedule. You wanna bot for 12 hours a day max. So why (in my opinion) waste 4 of them by questing, farming rep etc, when you might as well increase your profit? Again, if a GM does in fact catch you botting, you are going to get banned. Not a lot of people are getting their appeals through, since Blizzard claims they have "proof" and what not. As far as I'm informed, a GM investigates, he might teleport your character or just observe it for a while untill it's doing something botlike. He then records you doing that and thats the forementioned proof, whether you will ever get your hands on it or not. It's pretty hard to argue with that if thats the case.

To answer your original question, if you insists on doing something else besides gathering, the bot has limited options, when you don't want to supervise it at any time. You can do some rep grinding to get Chieves or maybe a few titles. Or you can do some questing, perhaps the Dailies. Neither DungeonBuddy or BGBuddy is in any way AFKable, and will get you banned even faster than gathering. So if you're not even gonna put some effort into making it look legit, why bother? Hope you get what I'm saying.
