[WD] Rhen'ho Flayer - Confuse Build. Good Progression, Mid to High Torment. Easy2Gear

You list Tasker as having 100% CHD, gloves can only have 50%. =)

Been using your build. Found that my WD kept spamming zombie dogs whenever it was off cooldown. Found the following line in Plugins\Trinity\Combat\Abilities\WitchDoctorCombat.cs

Code:
if (!hasSacrifice && CanCast(SNOPower.Witchdoctor_SummonZombieDog) && Trinity.PlayerOwnedZombieDogCount [B]<=2[/B] )

Going to try adjusting the last bit to "== 0" and see if that fixes it.

with this build, i found that it was best to modify the combat file for piranhas, its a 16 second cooldown but i found that pretty much it was always available from pack to pack due to grave injustice resetting cooldown, so i modified it so that it would cast on any pack instead of just elites. not sure if i did it right, but someone please let me know, it seems to cast on any mob packs, Previously set to elite only which is really a waste considering its nearly always available with grave injustice.

Code:
// Piranhas
                if (CanCast(SNOPower.Witchdoctor_Piranhas) && Player.PrimaryResource >= 250 &&
                    (TargetUtil.ClusterExists(15f, 45f, 2, true) || TargetUtil.[COLOR="#FF0000"]EliteOrTrashInRange[/COLOR](45f)) &&
                    Player.PrimaryResource >= 250)
                {
                    var bestClusterPoint = TargetUtil.GetBestClusterPoint(15f);

                    return new TrinityPower(SNOPower.Witchdoctor_Piranhas, 25f, bestClusterPoint);
                }

Did it fix it?

Didnt work for me...

Didnt work for me...
i just replaced the 2 with a 0 and it worked for me, only casts zombie dog when i have <=0 dogs.

poster said to replace with "==0", but all i did was drop the "0" in there instead of the "2"

Fantastic post.

Well written, easily understood, answered any questions I might have had, I could go on but... you get the idea.

Many thanks for your time, effort, and for sharing this with us :)

Would be happy to read any others too if you have them.

Happy Melting ;)

EDIT:
One question... [Paragon Points] How did you personally choose to spend them?

Never much talk about them and you can't efficiently snoop as of yet so... if you wouldn't mind. I'm asking more out of curiosity than best\worst - right\wrong as in most cases it's just common sense. Thank you :)

Good question, although the answer is more convoluted than one might think. My point usage relates to my gear so I will try my best to explain.

CORE
First: get yourself to 25% Movement Speed. *See note and example at bottom
Second: Determine your health pool needs. [TL : DR I run all INT after 25%MS]
  • Never die due to using BiS gear from original post? Stack INT.
  • If you're stacking 4000 Vit without parapoints, spend them on INT.
  • If you're Rocking a health pool over 400k, INT ftw.
  • Don't fit into the list above? I would suggest changing out some gear to get to those milestones.
  • If you have BiS DPS gear for this build with low VIT, go that route.
Why no Mana? You're using a Pet Build with a spammed 'free skill.' You should NEVER run out anyways.

OFFENSE
First: Balance your Crit Chance and Crit Damage.
  • This should be a 1:10 [one-to-10] ratio.
  • Hypothetically: If you have 60% CC and 350%CHD, where you have two 5%CC rings with no CHD: Re-roll both CC into CHD. In a perfect re-roll you would end up with 50%CC, 450%CHD, and add 50 parapoints for that perfect 50CC/500CHD.
  • 50% is the sweetspot on CC for me. After that it all goes into CHD and other stats.
Second: Personal Choice. Attack Speed or CDR.
Attack speed doesn't affect pet attack speed. The game actually adds it into a sheet DPS calculation for how much damage your pets will do. Again, they don't actually attack faster. This is why the Tasker's are so GG, they DO make pets attack faster.

DEFENSE
First: All resistance. Always.
Second:
If you have a lot of armor and high health pool you might benefit from the Armor % more.
If your life pool is under 400k, I suggest you invest here. If you're in the 450k health pool area, do armor.
Last: Life Regen. I specified because on this build it's really not needed until you get over para600 and have to get it.

UTILITY
This is all up to you. Obviously Gold is last priority.
If you run the Life on Hit zombie dog rune, that makes the first decision easy. Otherwise *shrugs*

WHY 25% Movement speed FIRST before all else? What about MS on gear?!

Often boots will roll with movement speed. It's a waste of a slot on your gear typically.

Say you're paragon 200, this means you have 50 points for the CORE tab.

Then you drop some nice boots with 12% movement speed instead of Vitality.
  • You will need to expend 26 paragon points to get to 25% movement speed. This leaves you with 24 points for vit (+120 vit total). Technically the MS on boots SAVED you 24 parapoints. This is wrong though.
  • If you instead dropped the 12%MS on the boots for a mediocre 400 vit roll, you will have to spend all 50 parapoints on MS, but you net 280 more vit overall.

Usually Parapoints spent on Critical Hit Damage are most common to be the first Offensive points spent.

Since WDs cannot dual-wield we are at a CHD disadvantage from the start.

When I am gearing I typically value CHD over CC. It's easier to see visually:

Typically you would get CC and CHD from the slots as shown:

[/TABLE]

A max ROS geared player in this Rhen'ho build would be AT BEST have 430CHD + 50 paragon= 480CHD.

Therefore I have no real reason to stack over 50% CC. OFC if you have the points to spare why not, but an explanation nonetheless.

Edit:
PS I was thinking about doing a crusader write-up. We will see I have a busy few weeks ahead.

Anyone have any fixes laying around to make Jade WD work?

I can do some testing and make a build and guide for it, but currently it doesn't perform properly for me.

Great guide ! great work !

still using this guide and build :)

also You can update this with new gems and hellfire amulet i think :)

Awesome!

I am waiting for Trinity to be more stable before doing long sessions again, then I will probably update some of the information as more of the patch is explored.

+1
Nice post.

However I am running a couple of full Jade WD's on T3-4 (HC) and they are doing very fine your idea seems to work as well.

I starting letting Riftbot run overnight with my gambling plugin set to mojos only. Then i started getting more than I knew what to do with.
