Whats your feeling regarding how resilient you think Trion will be in regards to botting?

I have the feeling that if they really don't want it, they will be able to detect and ban users no matter what you do (we some something similar with AION).

You obviously have a lot of experience with your WoW products, do you think that Blizzard could put a stop to you if they really wanted? Just want to make it clear in my mind if botting can be done if the Company really doesn't want it in their game......

Trion and Blizzard both make things very hard for us. Rift has an added layer of difficulty related to the size of the world. Its very hard to bot unobtrusively. That's why we are adding questing. If Trion stops getting player reports, most of our issues go away.
 
So you're saying that most of the bans/suspensions were from player reports? Or in other words not botting like you should?

We're saying that grinding the same mob endlessly for hours is not very human like - it's easy to spot a bot grinding like this. Hawker also forgot to mention that it is very easy to make heuristics server side for these kinds of things - if the player has stayed in 1 area for over 5 hours killing the same mobs, flag it and have a GM look at it. With that said I don't mean that the banwave was due to player reports. There definitely was one aspect of automatic detection - we've tried to improve on all fronts that we think could have something to do with our detection, but it has been impossible to 100% say why we got banned. There is a reason we are still advising botters to only use the bot on trial accounts.

What's the word on questing? Hawker said expect a demo yesterday

Main... I can tell you for a fact I wasn't suspended (24 hours) for grinding the same mob for hours or farming of nodes. I only used the bot as a rotation spammer(combat bot) while doing quest/playing by hand (I still have issues with the way the bot moves/harvest when automated after doing a short 2 min test using the default cleric/rogue routines). My only issue with trion is I got suspended for that... then what is the difference of me using my G15 keyboard or other software to spam the number 1 key every second when in combat using the in-game macros.
 
I asked a wow gm for using G15 scripts. He said its nearly impossible to be afk unsing the G15. Its not reading or injecting in the game memory area. Its not automating complex game mechanisms. So i should feel free to use.

You know the difference when using ryftomate ...

We're running internal tests. Hopefully we can get a release out tonight or first thing tomorrow.

EDIT: We aren't going to be able to get one out tonight, but tomorrow looks very good.

What I gave was a "high level" example of how they could detect it with heuristics. We have improved on several fronts they could also have detected.
 
Did you know, when the first Questing Profiles could be released ? (1-6, 6-20 and so on ;))
