So I'm looking for a lawyer to take action against Activision/Blizzard entertainment. The reason behind this is that they banned one of my accounts for "This account was closed because one or more characters were identified exchanging, or contributing to the exchange of, in-game property (items or gold) for "real-world" currency." This account was only 9 days old at the time of the ban, in that time the only thing the account did was buy two months of WoW using my own gold (recruited myself to get the mount). My main account and two other accounts got hit with the 6 month suspension so I bought a new account. I then traded some of my leftover gold on my now banned account to my brand new account (over 100k gold) and was banned a day or two later. Both accounts are in my name, so I was just trading gold from one of my accounts to the other. I appealed and got the silly automated message saying they double checked it and found the same conclusion.

I assume that blizzard thinks that my now banned account was an farming account that sells gold because the only toon I had on it was a level 1 toon. So I believe they took it at face value and just banned the account on the assumption that it's nothing but a gold selling account, which it has never sold gold or items period, it hasn't even traded or sent gold to anyone buy my own accounts. The other interesting part is, my brand new account was never banned or suspended.

So, I'm looking to take action against Activision/Blizzard for terminating my account for no real reason, but don't really have a list of lawyers that would take on Blizzard as most lawyers know nothing about WoW. Some help would be appreciated. Thanks.

they dont need to give you a real reason. im wuite sure it says that in the agreement u signed when u installed it :/

Well they just stole $45 from me, so I'd like to think that they do need a "real reason".

I would definitaly not take blizzard to court your talking about multi million dollar lawsuits blizzard hires the best of the best i'm fairly sure they did the same thing with HB awhile ago.

You're going to sue them for what exactly? The $45 your account cost? Do you think you're going to win hundreds of thousands of dollars because they banned an account?

Why don't you just request a refund for the account since it was 9 days old? If that doesn't work, file a case in small claims court. That's all a case like this would be eligible for anyways. You don't need a lawyer for small claims court.

Here's what I would do if I was the lawyer for your case...

Require a $5,000 retainer fee and then make you sign a contract that I will receive 90% of the court proceedings on top of charging you $100 an hour I spend on your case...

You see where I'm going with this? Do you even have a clue about how the law system works?

So you had a 9 day old account that you farmed over 220k gold? nothing dodgy at all?

And if you read the TOS when you accept it states they can close you account with no reason at all, they dont need to find you botting, selling gold or hacking they can just close it for the fun on it so. If you accepted which you have to to play you have no chance.

Well they just stole $45 from me, so I'd like to think that they do need a "real reason".

Again you signed contract saying they are allowed to close your account for no reason at all

lol this is gold!! i guess u could take them to small claims court. they prob wouldent wana deal with the court over 45.00 and just give the money to you. its been done. big companies get sent to small claims court then they just pay it all to avoid the embarrassment and time wasted sending someone out to represent which would cost more then 45.00

I have a similar experience, traded gold to my 2 raf toons, my friend was playing one and i was playing another, new bnet account, we bought heirlooms. total of ~100k gold. All 3 got banned with that message, never bought gold, never sold gold, the money on mains acct was put in from my other bots before the banwave... but they've never done that before. They refuse to read my appeal tickets, especially the RAF accounts, how did they exchange anything for real money? Ugh....

That has neve rhappened before in no banwave, and it happened after i traded the gold, AND.... the most interesting part is that I got banned for abuse of economy where it clearly states buying items/gold or selling them, Did I do that? no.

stop hammering him like kids .
listen send them a letter stating that you demand data evidence from there legal department of there claim and you well be contacted or forwarded to the legal department there do your work of demanding info data collection that was done for this account they can never refuse its your right according to the law .either they well provide it or unban your account cause they have nothing .

This is one of the reasons people make fun of Americans (American here). People want to sue for anything, some people see it as a big cash-out or something.

To sue over something that cost less than $100, for which you have already signed a LENGTHY and THOROUGH Terms of Service Agreement that probably says they can come to your house and shit in your toilet along with everything else....well, it's insane.

I'm interested in what it would be exactly that the plaintiff would sue for besides the $45 of course.

Emotional Damages?

All you need to do is open a dispute with your bank or credit card company and you'll win the dispute -- every time.

The end.

try get other charges to stick too if you can, like mental anguish and child pornography possion

I am going to attempt to actually give you real advice... Did you pay with paypal? If so paypal has been "fighting" for refunds in your favor. Also were you using an VPN software? Because blizzard can very easily ip track you and see accounts logging in across the world. Do all gold trades through guild banks, let it sit for a couple weeks atleast...
