I say allow it... But only partially.

Switch ingame into a "Botting" mode which allows botting only for up to X amount of hours.
Gold is halfed, along with sale prices of items ingame.

This includes Auction House, Vendors etc... And Vendors would charge double!

When botting you only get half the exp. Thus discouraging long amounts of botting to happen.

Also only allow it every other level so that its impossible to bot legally full time.

What does this do???

1. Prevents gold sellers from dominating the markets and killing the game for those who actually WANT to play it.

2. Allows for leveling of toons, but only allows every other to be botted. -This encourages gameplay.

3. Screws over those who TRY to abuse the system.

4. Everyone profits. The AH and live items would be traded at higher values due to bots not farming things. Thus increasing econony's output.

this thread is pointless. Blizzard will never allow cheating in a game. If Blizzard was for selling gold, they would sell it themselves. End of story.
Maybe they do.
And CIA killed Kennedy! ^^
/Conspiracy Theories OFF

Keep botting and Goldselling as it is, no point in doing groups with other botters that uses Pirox or any of the other crap bots? :)

no, think about it for a second. Theres thousands of dollars every month blizzard would be missing out on if they didn't sell gold and accounts. We all know they're greedy and only care about one thing: money. So who's to say that blizzard isn't secretly one of these wow trading companies? There's just to much money floating around to not get in on it.

They hardly do anything to stop it (and trust me if they really wanted to stop gold/account sellers you bet your ass they could do it all they would have to do is open a subpoena and have all these websites shut down because it is in fact illegal and against their tos). They know they exist they know these forums exist they aren't stupid. So why aren't they doing anything? Because they're in on it themselves.

They only shut down the major companies because they're cutting in on their action and they want to make it look like they're doing something. When in reality, they really could care less. Just my opinion.

Ever heard the saying throw good money on bad? most of these gold selling sites are hosted in asia etc, which in itself is difficult, bringing legal action against said people would be expensive and whilst costs would probably be payable by defendant, thats not really any good if said defendant hasnt got a pot to piss in.

Also the fact that selling gold is clearly a recipe for headache = no binding contract actually exists between someone selling gold and a purchaser so would leave them liable for lawsuits. Additionally they would have to pay taxes etc. All in all the whole "bliz is a gold seller" arguement is retarded when you actually think about it. As is the closing down gold sellers arguement.

Did you even think this through? Whats to stop people having 2 accounts? And I dont actually see how any of what you say answers any of your points. 1) gold sellers will still have multiple accounts and still farm and control prices. 2) i don't see how this is even a real issue? 3) Don't really see how its going to screw anyone over, if it did, people would still use 3rd party programs. 4) Why would bots not farm things again? Output is a measure of gross product, so your argument that output would increase even though farming decreases is retarded.

Nice try though! All in all allowing everyone to bot would make me feel less special

Keep this thread civil so I don't have to lock it please.

As many people said this will only cause chaos in wow. Prices will be dramatic lowered, there will be tons of levels 80's. About gold selling. It should be allowed but not sold by blizzard just as it is but with no chance of ban.

Didn't or doesn't sony allow gold selling via their site for EQII? It's been awhile but I don't think it went over real well, I should ask my brother since he plays it.

If Blizzard allowed the sale of gold you better believe they would be the only one selling it.
Its call micro-transactions.

They would also want to have control of the economy. If they made it legal, then everybody would start selling prices... prices would fall as people attempt to compete. People would start complaining to Blizzard because one person or another "scammed them", it would be a disaster. So if only Blizzard sold gold, they could keep control of the economy, both in how much can be supplied, as well as how much people have to pay.

Its clearly agains the TOA and people clearly hate botters etc. If it was legal everyone would bot and it would just make botting pointless and playing pointless because nothing would be worth anything and the reason people bot in the first place would be gone. I say keep it against TOA not that it EVER will be legal anyway. Its like communism, in theory it could be good but in practice its terrible. As for gold selling to an extent I think its alright because most players just arnt interested in farming for hours for an epic flyer and I know ALLOT of people would buy gold if it was legal. Of course it opens the door for the rich to just buy loads of gold but that isnt to bad as theres a limit to what they can buy anyway such as limited gold bought mounts etc and gear.

No I don't think Blizzard should allow botting, and about gold selling I have mixed feelings. It's alright to an extent but it will give huge advantages with people who have a lot of money to blow off on this game.

As Blizzard says, I believe the same (under their tips when loading a map): "Everything is good in moderation, including World of Warcraft."

It's " Take everything into moderation, including World of Warcraft."

They allow boting and there is nothing for me to sell. If I have to be as poor as most of the ppl who play the legit way then I would quit.

cheating is only fun if not everyone is doing it.

QFT Couldnt have said it better.

I'd like them to be a bit more forthcoming on bans, rather than the generalizations they give now. I doubt they will, but It'd be nice to know if you are more likely to get banned for a particular reason, like X amount of kills of same mobs, lots of AH posts, large regular gold Xfers, long hours logged in day after day, etc etc. IMO keep it illegal, but ease off on the bans. The bots are getting better and better, and its only going to cost blizzard a fortune to keep chasing us, driving their costs up. They just need to all but give up, and only ban the obvious ones. Keep it illegal in publications, GM quotes etc, but with minimal enforcement on the back end. Kinda like Sodomy, or Polygamy. It's illegal in many places, yet nobody enforces it cause it doesn't hurt anybody.
