VMware

PLZ need help, "Sorry,this aplication cannot run under a virtual machine"

run vmware in win 8.1.....

Well I duno whats going on but I cant get it to work anymore since that last patch, is anyones vmware still working without the use of the bot?

I'm unable to load it as well. it goes through hackshield and then the green splash starts to load then the game just crashes. Not much info in the crash logs either.

I've had to use directexe = true, before last patch i had it false and was great loading fast etc. Now with it turned on its slower but i can live with that however, I get DC'ed at the server selection still have not found a way around that yet.

I get a little further with directexe = true but still not past the green splat. it crashes as it makes it all the way through all the words. Can you post your .vmx file?

finally got game to load but get disconnected pretty quickly.

Got it loaded, and passed the server select / character select area.

monitor_control.restrict_backdoor = "TRUE"
isolation.tools.getPtrLocation.disable = "FALSE"
isolation.tools.setPtrLocation.disable = "FALSE"
isolation.tools.setVersion.disable = "FALSE"
isolation.tools.getVersion.disable = "FALSE"
monitor_control.disable_directexec = "TRUE"

using those, but it lags like a bitch and takes like 10-20m just to load up / get in game. When in game the FPS is like a slideshow gaining around 1-8fps, while its able to stay online without DCing for 24 hours though. Cannot do anything with it. It lags because of monitor_control.disable_directexec = "TRUE" - Previously I was bypassing hackshield with it turned on false but they must of patched hackshield now its detectable in another method.

Bascially need to find out what that method of detection is to patch/regedit that and turn directexec back on False to get better performance.

Note: I am using Windows 7 64bit, with 1 CPU/4 cores dedicated to it and 4gigs of ram. - Also note I manually extracted the WDDM drivers from vmware tools iso and installed them manually.

And that other thing you said right above ...

-_- NO!
You want to turn Directexec back to TRUE ... because that's when DirectX drivers actually work. What you want to turn to false is the Disable.Directexec ... as in: [don't run directexec?]=false (negating the negation = affirmation)

You guys don't even understand what those commands refer to ... how are you expecting to make it work?
Do your homework, research the internet ... to understand what it is you're actually modifying.

Do you know what you are talking about? Because it doesn't seem like it.

monitor_control.disable_directexec = "TRUE" - will usually thwart descriptor table registers checks. This setting will make VMware interpret each assembly instruction instead of executing them directly on the processor. Therefore a the result of a sidt instruction will not be an address in the 0xffXXXXXX range as one would get without this setting.

I'm not 100% sure but im almost 80% sure its got nothing to do with Micro$hit "direct X." But has everything to do with out vmware obfuscating the chip instructions.

But to answer your question, If i turn back on Directexec it will be detected by hackshield, this is because its detecting the sidt instruction that is otherwise been hidden when it executes it directly.

And to this I will just requote you..

Ive not had any problems running this on WMware, but I allocated 4GB of ram to it and I get normal load times.

Anyone know how I could run archeage from a shared network drive? I already have archeage in the VM's but would rather just have it one location instead of having to install it on every VM. When I try to run from share it doesn't work.

Due to the fact that it is so horrible optimized while playing on a local drive already, I'm just going to say good luck to that.
Seriously disk space today is a non-factor when I read about other people having so much problem with performance on WM's, suck it up and eat the space it requires! :D
Or go rambo and launch it through several socket5's on host OS!

got the game working but im unable to get archebuddy to start anyone got any ideas on how to fix this ?

Do anyone know how to fix VM crashing on 100% loaded game?
It crashes totally and remains locked, so I have to delete .lck folders and start over.
And it crashes again.
Just new VM, windows 7.
And 8.1 did the same thing.

The same thing happens to me, still do not know how to solve

Found the solution.
"go to Documents/Archeage/User/Shaders and delete the cache folder"

I've only seen one person address the issue of the game freezing or locking up ... everyone else i've read up here have all stated that their stuff works fine for them.

A buddy gave me the links to everything he uses to run AA in a VM -- i don't want to use AB, i dont even have it... His runs just fine, mine freezes w/in seconds of getting into the game.

I followed all the instructions to a T -- have uninstalled / reinstalled everything at least 20+ times. I am very ignorant to VM but i will try to list my spec's and what i am using.

Host Machine
-------------
OS - Win 7 64x
Ram - 16gig
HDD - 500gig
GPU - GTX 760
CPU - Intel i5-2500 @ 3.30GHz (4 CPUs), ~3.3GHz

VMWare Player (free)
--------------------
OS - Win 7 32x
Ram - 7gig
HDD - 60gig
GPU - GTX 760
CPU - Intel i5-2500 @ 3.30GHz (4 CPUs), ~3.3GHz (Dedicated 2 cores to this VM)

-----------------------------------------------------------------
As mentioned above, i can get into the game no problem. Staying in the game is a different story all together. I don't know what im doing unless i have a pop-up book or step by step instructions (with pictures prefered)... Total novice at this stuff, but i have a willingness to learn if someone could be patient with me long enough to tell me what exactly i've done wrong that everyone else runs this game w/out freezing / crashing the entire VM.

Any help at all would be greatly appreciated and i apologize in advance for my lack of understanding that anyone may happen upon.

Thank you

I've managed to set up vmware with AA on it altough i have a small problem. Have anyone had a problem when hard disk with vmware on it got 100% load and very high avarage response time? Disk kinda new and working great without Vm running on it.
