VMware

tried it on my rig as well. 3770k, gtx 690 & samsung pro ssd 840, 32gb ram (and gave vmware 16gb for extreme overkill just to make sure its not the issue)

i do crash every hour give and take. but not if ran outside vm. it must be the vm causing the client crash or some wrong settings on my vmx. it does work, but just not really stable.

how do you get the game run smooth, the game start for me with bot. it did the registry changes and all. but ingame it is very low fps (without vm the game run smooth with best settings)

how do you get the game run smooth...

i honestly dont know why it's not smooth for you, maybe you didn't install vmware tools by any chance? it helps a lot on graphic rendering. though u cannot install vmware tools after you do changes to the video card adapter in the registry. but maybe it's just vmware tools problem if not your video card cant handle more but it should if its maxed out on non-vm

i reinstalled now a now virtual machine with windows 7, istalled vm ware tools and started chess titans (standart game) it is laggy.. I give the vm 2 cpu cores, 4gb ram

My PC is:
CPU: i5 2500k
RAM: 12GB
Grafik Card: Readon HD7950
windows on an ssd the VM on another hdd

edit:
just reinstalled vm player, now it runs better. dont load all textures

Derp its different per machine if im not mistaken coz some folders are hashed

I am having the problem where my game crashes when selecting a server.

try it now with win 8.1 :/

built a new VM with 8.1 , updated the VMX file an ran the regedit script. It immediately crashes and i get the webpage hack shield error. I tried searching the registry for "VMware SVGA 3D" but that string was not found

I follow all the steps from page 6 and it works but after i pick a server i got a disconnet, anybody knows whatss the problem?
i use win 7 and vm8

I have tried using vm9 with windows 7 ( applying all fixes in this thead) it still hangs. Tried vm9 with windows 81 , still hangs. Tried VM 10.0.3 windows 81 and it still hangs.

Update your windows.

no, it stops after green loading icon :/
Have you installed DirectX and VMTools?

What do you mean by "it hangs" ?

I think he meant that its freezing.
I think it happens for the majority of people.
Mine for example doesnt freeze fast so i can i could think "it works" but when playing long enough it will will freeze no matter what.
I would like to know if people saying it works for them tested long enough.

Yes VM and directX installed on all of them. All patched and updated to current. ALL had 5.5 GB of memory allocated with 1 cpu / 2 cores. AA graphics set to use DX9 with normal quality.

Yup it freezes the entire VM usually after a few minutes. SO if you are just starting up AA its not a valid test, that can be done. But under all those scenerios i have never got it to run more than about 5 minutes without freezing the entire VM.

Did anyone figure out a way around this? Could it have something to do with Intel VT-x or AMD-V?

I'm not just starting it, I have my VM running 24/7 with AB running on it for most of those hours with no freezes or horrible FPS. What CPU do you own and if you CPU supports it, have you enabled Intel VT-x through your BIOS?

I have and Intel I-3550 @3.30, the intel identification utility says it supports Intel Virtualization.

I did turn in on in the bios. But i seem to not be the only one with issues. So far you are the only person i have seen say that actaually run AA on a vm for and extended period of time.

Perhaps if you had time you could post your specs and all the settings you are using for your VM

Thanks

Hi all, I am in the process of setting up a VM.

Once the .vmx file changes have been made, you can no longer "drag and drop" files to the VM, nor set up a shared folder, as the VM no longer recognizes itself as a VM. This is necessary and fine if you don't plan on changing the files frequently, or downloading them.

However, I would like to develop on my main and copy DLL folders over on a regular basis. I suppose I could allocate space for and install visual studio on the VM, but that is a cumbersome step.

Any tips from any developers running on a VM?
