Planning on setting up a virtual machine to run WoW/HB in, which will connect to a v-p-n so it's on a different IP than I use for my main account.

For those also running VM's, any tips on best set up? Should I use a dynamic drive or static drive for example?

I plan to install Windows 7 on it.

I've read some posts where people change the Volume ID of the drive... is that just because they cloned their machines or WoW, or for some other reason?

Is there anything else I should configure since it's a VM. I checked WoW's terms of service and there doesn't seem to be a restriction from running with a VM.

Thanks

its complete overkill. the ONLY time you need to do anything near that is when you have over a dozen sessions running.

I'd just rather be safe than sorry, so I want the bot account to have a different IP address than my main account, and I want to have both running on the same PC. So this is the only way I can have it have it's own IP.

Yes it could be overkill, and I don't bot to sell gold, I bot to help my main (ie - grind for a good BoE to use, or to sell if I get something I can't use so I can buy the one I need). I don't want to be starting new accounts each time I get banned, etc

I've been playing a long time and would cry if my main got banned. I do bot on the main a little (for convenience, such as for garrison tasks on my main and my alts), and to level my alts. So if Bliz looked at my bot account and then looked at my main (because it's on the shared IP) they could find the main account botting too.

I even read a post in the Ban section where someone said their main got banned because it was the guild master of the same guild their bots were in, even though their main hadn't withdrawn anything from the guild bank yet.

So it's a bit scary and I'd rather take all precautions.

So anyway, I know some people use virtual machines and looking for any guidance. I've built machines before but just not sure if I should do anything different because this will run WoW.

Thanks
