VMWare - poor performance

I'm running VMWare on on notebook.

notebook specs:

1.93 GHz quad core intel I7 processor
600 GB hard driver (has diablo 3/vmware on it)
64 GB SSD (OS drive)
6 GB RAM (pagefile disabled)
AMD radion HD 5870 mobile graphics card

VMWare seems extremely glitchy. I'm using vmware 8. I used the download link from the vmware web site and a keygen, so it hasn't been modified and is basically as legit as possible.

I'm using a copy of windows xp that is slip streamed to service pack 3 with all the updates.

Are there things I can do to improve the performance?

Theres a guide on how to configure a VMware to be better. I had this problem with mine and started tweaking. Current setup - 2GB of ram for the VM, as well as 1 process 4 cores allocated to it. With this it seems to be much better. Also limit your resolution to 1024x768, or 800x600. Turn all settings in game to low, and modify the hardware class='1' in the C:\Documents and Settings\username\My Documents\Diablo III\ config. Should improve tremendously.

Edit: link to guide.

Thanks for the help. The hardware setting helped a lot. Also noticed the default hardware settings for vmware were poor. set vmware to use 2 GB of RAM and 2 of my processors. Disabled most windows xp services. disabled pagefile. Disabled most windows features.

Smooth as glass performance now.
