Hey Guys,

I recently setup VMware workstation to run 5x WoW and 5x Honorbuddy. Although it works, the performance isn't what I expect so was looking for input or experienced users.

Hardware
Intel 3930k @ 4.0 GHz
CORSAIR Vengeance 64GB (8 x 8GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1866
2x SSD in RAID 0 (Get about 900 MB/s )
ASUS Sabertooth X79 LGA 2011 Intel X79 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard
EVGA Nvidia 580 GTX 4 GB

For the VM, I gave it all 12 cores and 16GB of RAM (it is only using about 10 GB with all 5 running )

If I run 5x clients on the host machine, I get 60 FPS on each client all at the lowest settings.
Now in the virtual machine, I get more like 10-12 FPS on each client when they are all running.

I was expecting a performance decrease, but this seems way too much. What do others experiences?

Any advice on optimizing the Virtual Machine or setup?

I already tried this guide

The vmware videocard hardware is not the same thing as your physical video card.. It also has a limited amount of memory. So i think performance will stay poor regardless

My workin experience is with esx and not workstation.. What u could check is in the vm settings.. Go to the hardware/display device and see if its possible to add extra memory to the device..

I know vmware is working on getting beter video support for desktop like virtual machines but dont how far along it is
