virtual private network and "players near you"

I'm running all my bots on seperate virtual private networks in VMware and yet, they are spotted in the "players near you" section in my friendslist.
I have changed the routing tables so that I can't connect to any other IP than the V-P-N IP, so if I close the connection to the Virtual Network internet doesn't work at all.

Does anyone know how this feature works? There is a leak somewhere but I don't know how to fix it.
