HB won't start. Says "unable to check for an update" and "will not be able to update"

Completely uninstalled, deleted the dir, re-downloaded installer, installed. Still same issue.

Log says:
[11:05:53.998 N] Honorbuddy v2.5.14052.789 started.
[11:06:32.816 Q] Honorbuddy was unable to check for an update.
Honorbuddy will not be able to update automatically.

Flushed DNS, deleted host file, reset router.

My key is fine. If the issue was the key, it wouldn't let me log in.

can you enable your antivirus instead and set exceptions plz?

if you have more then one network adaptor installed on your pc, disable all of them except the one used by your internet connection.

Go to Programs and Features, in your windows Control panel.
Look for:
- microsoft .net framework 4 client profile
- microsoft .net framework 4 extended
- microsoft .net framework 4.5.x
- microsoft visual c++ 2010 x86 redistributable
- microsoft visual c++ 2012 x86 redistributable

and Uninstall them if they are installed.
Restart your PC.

install this
https://www.thebuddyforum.com/relea...-dependency-wizard-post704565.html#post704565

and this
Download Microsoft .NET Framework 4.5.1 (Web Installer) for Windows Vista SP2, Windows 7 SP1, Windows 8, Windows Server 2008 SP2 Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 and Windows Server 2012 from Official Microsoft Download Center

run both as administrator.
after the both installs are completed, run windows update. And install all updates for .net & c++
Then do one last restart.

figured out what the issue was. Took some digging, but I found it. My firewall was blocking port 5031, which is what HB uses. Just had to open the port and it worked.
