Basically I'm considering purchasing some components and building a new PC and putting 8 bots on it, I will be going with the asus p8z77-I deluxe mini itx with a i7 3770k, 16gb ram and a 120gb SSD inside the beautiful bitfenix prodigy case.

However my dilemma is, I don't have much money and spending ?600 on a PC when I have a baby due in 6 weeks sounds very irresponsible, I'm debating whether to gamble on a return on my investment in a short space of time with running 10 bots total over 3 pcs.

What's your opinion? Should I gamble and hope the eu Diablo market for gold and items stays relatively steady or should I just stick with my 4 bots and plod along ?
I'm torn....
Thanks in advance for any replies!

LOL I would never in my whole life have the concience to do such a thing, I would ALWAYS ALWAYSSSSSSSS take my baby first before everything else. What would you do if your baby (hopefully not) needed something in emergency? Do you have anything to fall back on?

If you were living on your own, sure take a gamble, you can get by with lot less money than what you spend now right ? But having a baby... that is a world of difference. I would never count on boting to be a 100% income, you can never know when blizzard decides to swing the mighty hammer...

Thanks for the intelligent reply Bertrand, I'm torn whether to take the risk or not, bearing in mind everyday lost is money lost. But it's the point of whether I would be able to recoup my investment or not that I'm unsure of. And ofc the baby comes first I do have enough money to get by on but things would be very tight. It's a dilemma. The state of Diablo economy doesn't fill me with hope.

ultimately its going to be up to you, just think about the future and really do you see yourself running 10 bots? do you have the process automated enough to easily run 10 bot? what are you going to do if your bot farm gets wiped out? these are some of the things you need to think about.

could just buy a small upgrade for current comp and see if you can squeeze another one on it...low risk vs reward if doable

I did consider that, but it's useless it crashes constantly and is about 5 years old. After much conflict in my head my wife pushed across some very good arguments to do it. So I'm gonna order the stuff I need today.

This is the case and stuff pictures by another guy who has built it.

The final argument for spending the money was, even if it all crashes down next week, you needed a new PC and u can go bot the next big game when it comes out :) love my wife she's awesome sauce :)

Well, usually bans come in waves, and the last one was like week and a half ago, so i'd say you are pretty safe to start botting. Just remember to watch your bots ! The number 1 threat to botting from my experience is this:

I accidentally deleted the folder where the profiles were stored. I had em on my desktop in a special folder for lvling, and what i did was started the profile on couple accounts and went to clean the desktop from junk folders. Needles to say i hit the wrong folder and deleted the entire profiles and went alt tab to watch a dota replay. The bots were recreating a game every 5 sec for 15 mins before i caught it coz db couldn't find the profiles. This is the only real threat that you should watch out from!

heres what i think, do it, just keep half your funds in reserve to put back into the "business" in case you lose your accounts, you have the seed money to start back up.

D3 economy seems to be a sinking ship, it might stabilize at some lvl but i will most definitely wait until next patch before making any further investments to see how this plays out.

It won't stabilise, because there is no item outlet in the game.
The best you can hope for is the sinusoid pattern of ups-and-downs, if Blizzard finds a way to constantly inject new, better, items, without discouraging buyers from upgrading.

This doesn't look to be happening any time soon

@Eisenberg: no it isnt if you know how to properly sell. Still averaging to about $500~ a week here

@OP: 10 bots means you definitely to some extent can recoup $600 (excuse the dollar signs I just am that bad at finding the pound sign) within 6 weeks THOUGH this like Codename mentioned is up to your abilities. In that I mean that you should understand how the market is at the moment and how to get your items out as quick as possible since you want to reach your 600 recouped by the time your babes born.

BUT to be honest if you are that unsure and you need to ask on a forum regarding your financial planning you probably aren't ready to take such a big leap in bot number.

The market shows absolutely no sign of revitalizing any time soon. There is no updates from Blizzard at all and it may take months before the next patch. Have you taken into consideration the money you have to spend on the accounts? How long it would take for each account to clear before you start making profit based on GPH alone? Have you planned your leveling route and how quickly you can get your bots up to speed?

You do realize there have been reports of people getting banned within days/hours or just under 1-2 weeks?

What is the next big game anyway? When it is coming out? How big is the hype?

Is this your first child? Have you asked anyone what is it like to have a baby? Have you/your wife taken care of children before?

Baby man, like seriously, a baby. I have the funds and nothing to do and yet I won't consider expanding with the way things look. Hell I'm looking for the next big thing too, can't find shit.

I really hope the market will stabilize at some point.. was a nice source of income :(

- it still is, but its falling pretty fast imo

Heh thank you all for the replies, and no this isn't my first baby, I have a 18 year old son and a 2 year old son already, I'm quite a wise old bugger with regards to having children I know the costs and responsibilities involved :) with regards to levelling, that's quite easy and should take no more than 2-3 days or so, however I'm going to just upgrade to 3 more bots for now, making a total of 7 until I can recoup some of the money outlayed. I have gear falling out of my ass that I can gear them with. After having 4 barbs running I decided to try out a wd, and wow does it make my ww barbs look slow. So I'll probably make 3 more wds.

With regards to Diablo as posted above the economy is a curve up and down constantly but if blizzard have enough interest to do the pvp patch and an expansion to boot I don't think it's going away just yet and there is a lot of people that play it religiously.

I'm quietly confident that I can recoup my investment within 3 months at the very most, taking into account players and the item sales and gold sales going up and down. It's a far cry from the 6 weeks that I started off with I know, but the misses reassured me that we aren't so bad financially :)

Once again, thank you all so much for your responses - much appreciated.

This is really simple really.. Upgrade hardware and buy new accounts, with the money you make from the 4 accounts you already have. I know the market is slowing down, but there are many patches to come, and each patch will bring new life to market. I think diablo wil be profitable to bot for years to come.

Not to sound too full of myself but after reading the latter half of your post, I know you'll be more than fine regardless of your investment into 10 bots or less even (in other words my previous post is moot) as I believe out of every post on the forums you have hit it more or less right on the head with how the market can and most likely will potentially go in the future.

Best of luck!

I dont think you will be able to recoup,im sensing a banwave will come shortly for champ farmers in about a month or so and you will not gain anything invested.
