Updater.exe Deleting itself

Hello,

So I was running AB last night (11/08/2015) when it crashed because I logged out of an account. It has crashed many times before when I've done this, so I went back into the folder where I have all of the AB related files and started the Updater.exe again. It loaded up fine and I got to my account manager and began loading up a character, it was loading and it all of a sudden disconnects. I found this to be odd because AB doesn't normally crash at that point, so just like before went into my AB folder and went to start up the Updater.exe again. To my surprise the Updater.exe wasn't in the folder anymore.

I went to download the Updater.exe from the main page and that download had failed. So I looked on the forums and found that Taranira has posted a .zip of the updater which I was able to download (https://www.thebuddyforum.com/archebuddy-forum/archebuddy-support/222263-download-link-issue.html).

So once I had the Updater.exe again I copied it into my AB folder and ran it. AB ran fine again until I tried to load a character where it closed AB and deleted the Updater.exe from the folder again. I tried to make a new folder and run the Updater from it and doing that crashes and removed the Updater.exe almost instantly.

Nothing has changed on my computer. I've used the Buddywizard - it all checks out. Antivirus has exceptions for AB. Windows defender is disabled. I am running Updater.exe as an admin.

I'm not sure what more I can do at this point so if anyone has a solution I'll greatly appreciate it.View attachment Logs.zip

Edit: Added Logs.

If you have Avast or AVG they're known for deleting files even after exceptions have been made/declared for them.

Without knowing what antivirus you're using though it's hard to say why it's deleting itself.

All I would really know from a blind POV is that when you download AB, right click the file and go to Properties

On the lower right hand corner click "Unblock"

Click Apply and then click Ok.

Hello Mordark,

Thanks for the very quick response, simply clicking unblocked has solved my problems!

Thanks a bunch!

I guess you know now this happens with McAfee as well. :P

Good to know the problem is solved! Thank you for the update. And yeah, McAfee is known for it as well. It's more rarely used though.
