if you bot, my advice is read the blue posts from blizzard from time to time. As stated above, the extended maintenance is there to solve bugs, and lately they have been talking about the connected realms. They will be attaching 2 realms together to see if it works, this might break WoW services thus the extended maintenance, if by all means a patch comes you can sometimes read in advance on mmo-champion about what they are going/planning to do.
