Whats your take on this ? Paid Plug-Ins Coming Soon..

I feel like with paid plug-ins they will be spending more time trying to fix bugs in there plug-ins than fixing core elements of there general bots.

Should worry about trying to get this bot outta BETA before trying to market more crap to go wrong with it.

no.. paid plugins are fine. if they even come at all. its obviously not their highest priority.

Look: they just released a new version of HB and are updating it as well soon, even though the bot was safe and okay how it was.

Personally, I think them trying to create "plugins" for their own bot, and selling them, is a retarded idea. If its worth creating a plugin, then add it into the bot itself instead. Plugins are meant to be written by the users for things that the dev's do not want to implement into the bot, but some still want.

Incorrect there. They released a new version because the bot wasn't ok. They had to release a new version because wow changed something and it didn't function. Hence the reason they had you using a bot for weeks that CC's didn't work and tons of other bugs.

*sigh* people really shouldn't talk about things unless they know about them first.

Honestly; I'm all for the paid plugins thing. Assuming the HB staff monitor each release (to avoid 'bad' code from being put into public use) and some form of security to make sure only plugins from this site are usable, it'd be a great addition.

It'd give developers the incentive to make the 'next big plugin' for HB, which will definitely make everyone's lives better.

If it kickstarts the plugin 'industry' as it were, I'd be all over this. I want it to happen in other words.

But how will it be decided which plugins should be sold, and which will be free? You can't expect every single plugin to be paid for... And they there will be people who will simply code their own version of the "paid" plugins and release them for free. Only a very few amount of plugins that are very advanced will actually have people buy them.

And how is profit going to be split? 75% Dev, 25% HB?

this whole system is months, from being released, if at all, it maybe another year, before we see any signs this is happening. so there is no sense in talking about it now.

there is a reason to talk about it. The community in sense will be the ones paying for it, so their opinions matter. But def keep the discussion mature and reasonable. By the community voicing their opinions about the system, it gives the devs something to brainstorm about and may give them some new and greater ideas about the system. Even IF the system is months away.

My question/thoughts....
How will this be regulated?
will only the "Official" plugins be in the store or can anyone monetize their work?
Will the Plugin's source be given to the Devs and they in a sense own the Plugin, but may you a "Royalty" every time it is DL?
Will the Plugin Dev be responsible for their own built in piracy protection?
Will there be an Auth system setup that each Dev has the ability to manage the auth for their own Plugin?

Just curious how it will be done.

How about we get a bot that works and has very few flaws? And stop wasting time on questing, that shit will never be perfected. What? They get it close to working then cata come out and all hell breaks lose in fixing it.... again? Sorry, just a little frustrated. I wanted a bot to, well, bot.

Sounds like more a user error than anything, i've got 2 80's from HB, it bots perfectly, if you tinker with it, and set it up right. they can work on the bot all day, but they cant fix your stupidity.

posts like this irk me.

Haha. One of my favorite quotes.

"I can fix the code, but I can't fix stupidity."

Anyhow, I'd assume all code just needs to be reviewed by staff at the minimum for paid plugins. (To avoid people sneaking in keyloggers, etc etc)

Obviously paid plugins will be closed source and whatnot. (Otherwise, why pay for them?)

As some others have said, this is a long way off, so actual details aren't really relevant at this point.

there is already a thread about that created by Bossland
