Tripwire activated. Shutting down Honorbuddy

maybe 3 or 4 hours. it was the first time ive botted in about 3 months. just returned to the game 2 days ago. i was using profession buddy to skill up mining and herbing.

In my country consumer protection are based on that ppl dont read the EULA.

Standard rules apply. It doesnt matter whatever you agreed to.
 
Yeah that's the question I asked as soon as they released this test/beta version. The way I understand it the code to detect HB is already active in the client - all it has to do is send a packet to blizzard. That's great that HB can apparently recognize that happening, but isn't it too late at at that point?

the original tripwire system would monitor warden for updates and then shut down everything, until devs could make sure code vs their bots wasn't added into the changed warden. but the changes are already made and active in this case...
 
Im leveling per hand since 3 days now and I am only lvl 40.. fuck man, leveling is so fucking boring. 18 hour for 40 lvls...
 
Started today at 13:00 and nothing happend to me, im questing.. but i should shut down the next minutes..

no matter if warden checks process lists or not, EULA claims it can scan or not, if Blizzard actually does scan or not, HB exe does support and functions properly while renamed. Therefore like religion or insurance, or AV software, it simply provides piece of mind for any of us that wish to rename the exe.
 
Honestly, people should use more common sense and not believe anything someone tells you, be it Blizz, HB or the President. In most cases, those doing all the talking have something to gain and you won't get but half the story to begin with.
 
It is safe to bot. Dont worry you will know when it is not. There is no need for speculations. Security is our top priority.

As long as honorbuddy is able to login and attach to wow you are safe. When it is not you won't be able to run it even if you want to.
 
And besides which, even accepting the EULA does not give Blizzard the right to BREAK THE LAW!
Which is precisely what scanning outside of their own memory space does. There was a whole load of stuff that came out of Sony's rootkit copy protection fiasco to protect against stuff like that happening.

This made my day. You agreed to the ToS and Eula they can do what every want once you agree. they can invade your privacy if you give consent if its in the ToS or Eula then they can do it. that's why they want an adult to be guardian of an account because The law is written in this way to protect children from people who may attempt to take advantage of them. A young person may think that he or she has the capacity to understand the terms of the contract presented, but he or she must also be mature enough to appreciate the consequences of what is being signed. The principle was written for this purpose. so technically if your underage and agreed either you can sue them because you didn't give them the rights or they sue you or something of that kind.

Punkbuster used to do it. The problem with that is... you can exploit it. How? Find a known bit of 'detected' memory that will flag a ban. simply embed that into a picture, chat room etc. Spam it all over forums, IRC, etc etc, that would result in hundreds of false bans. It's why anti cheats avoid doing it because punkbuster got hit by this a few years back. Unless they make it very specific what it's searching for. In which case it would actually become like a hack for other games, where it's cat and mouse more-so than it already is here at HB.
It's why most games scan inside the process not outside.

thanks for the confirmation on that, Raphus. seemed alot of people are worried about the tripwire being fired. so i suppose that with Raphus's comment here, if your tripwire in HB goes off, it logs you off HB and WoW BEFORE the blizz system can ban you.

so what we should all take from this thread? the new HB is working as intended to combat the new blizz detection method.

me, i have not received the tripwire message yet in HB. have been on PQR for the last 3 nights raiding on my healers.
 
Also, all the tripwires, was that on SoR account or paid account, Gattherbuddy etc?
 
ok so if the new system is working then why are people getting banned using kicks profiles that never got anyone banned before? Just wondering because I use kicks all the time and I have been logged out 2 different times so im still not sure if HB is working or not and I already submitted my logs and nothing was ever said to me so I guess what im getting at is it safe to use the system and when are you going to release a final version of hb that works smoothly like the old one did?

Other players reported you...? For whatever reason. Whether it be for being online questing for an abnormally long period of time, weird movements, getting stuck etc... The ban was caused by other people reporting you, not Honorbuddy being detected, which as a Developer stated in this thread, it is not.
