trading with other toons impossible in wow?

I have tried a couple times to give gold to one of my toons, but the trade did not work. Is it a bug in my own installation or something new? I don't want to post in wowhead not to attract attention in case it is a new detection method.
edit: i had to back and forth 4 or 5 times before the trade went thru!

Hi, Odarn,

This is usually caused by lag between the WoWclient and the WoWserver.

There are also protections in place (and Bliz may have added more, or altered them), to prevent the 'free' accounts from interacting in certain ways with subscriber accounts, mail, whisper, etc.
