To farm Pets, or not to farm them... that is the question

The reason for this post is that ivee been farming pets with vanilla shaman that i have and a 70 warrior, ive got 4xCaptured firefly, 2x Razormaw hatclings and 1x Hyacinth Macaw drop in the past week... which i havent been able to sell

mind you, ive onlty sold 3 fireflies for like 2k each.

the hatchling is at 200g in the ah.

so my question is, is it even worth trying?

If I farm for an Oozeling, it usually takes me 2 nights to get 1 (i only farm while i'm sleeping). It sells for 5k, so that's 2.5k/night, or approximately 300g/hour. Do remember this is by chance that I get these in 2 nights, sometimes i get them in 1 night, sometimes i won't see them for a week.

Hyacinth Macaw is a down right NO. You may get other things as well, but unless you're on one of the extremely populated servers, you will be very hard pressed to find a buyer, especially for the more expensive prices.

I guess it really comes down to the economy... If you find better things to farm, then farm those. However if most other things have the worst prices in existance, the who knows what is the best. Personally I'm going to start mining/herbing because that will bring better gold/hour, so you really have to experiment.

I literally farmed 8 hours per night for 3 weeks alternating a couple of my herb/ore farmers to get the epic bird. I did not get the bird or first mates hat, only drop was an epic sword. My bots can ususally earn 2-3k per night with GB. That equals roughly 42k-63k i wasted grinding for the damn stupid bird. I eventually bought one for 10k just cause I wanted to prove I could get one and to totally kill my urge to farm one.

I would have come out much further ahead if I just bought the maccaw to begin with and farmed herbs/ore. I have had much better luck with the whelps, ooze, firefly and hatchlings. I usually always get 1 per night. The prices suck right now on my server because someone else farms them and lists like 5 at a time for crap prices.

So money wise pets dont add up on my server. I make much more with GB. Although I do have a pretty nice main account with a couple of each pet.
