Thinking about taking the plunge to DB. Have some questions.

Hello and thank you for reading my topic. I am interested in botting, but want to wait to see if the price of D3 is going to drop around Black Friday/Cyber Monday.

Needless to say, I'll be using a fresh account and starting from scratch. It looks like Barbarians are the best class to bot with? I am pretty lazy/busy and don't want to bother with leveling on my own. What would you recommend? Botting from the get go, or leveling him/her to 60 and then botting? When I hit 60, what kind of gear is required to be effective? (aka how much will it cost me on the RMAH/GAH.)

If you have a friend who can give you quest steps, and lend you some gold, leveling a barb 1-60 will take about 24 hours botted. With neither of these things, it would probably be easier to level it by hand, and I'm not sure how long it would take.

You can farm A3 MP0 effectively (500-600+ items per hour) as a ww barb with about 5 million worth of gear.
 
if you get frustrated really easily, then get ready to be really frustrated. The updates change so frequently (which makes you have to install a fresh copy everytime) and new stuff doesnt work so often, it gets frustrating. Granted it's a program and pretty much all programs have issues, but this one has lots, and ALL the time. But it does work 50% of the time.

again; not bagging on any of the DB staff. Just speaking the truth

Yeah it sure is frustrating making all this free money.

Every time my bots crash and I have to take 10minutes out of my day to start them again, I get so frustrated.
Every time I cant get 100mil for an item and have to settle for 60m, I get so frustrated.
Every time a new DB update comes out and I have to re-update every bot, I get so frustrated.
Every time I have to spend minutes, almost hours even, out of my day to sort through all of these items in storage and search the AH and figure out what they are worth... I get so frustrated.


Every time I open Paypal and move another batch of money over to my bank account.... I GET SO FLIPPING FRUSTRATED.

Like srsly. WTF PAYPAL? 3 DAYS TO GET ME MY FREE MONEY??

it does get frustrating. And yes the money is great, but to think of how much more you could make if it was AFK'able

-setting your guys up, going to sleep. Then to find out they crashed 30 minutes after you went to sleep
-going to work and coming home and you find out they crashed 30 minutes after you left
-answering thread replies from people like you, really frustrating

Stop denying the truth. You cant tell me when you turn your screen on and see them all crashed, you dont go "fuck" or "shit" or "dammit" etc etc

If you dont remind this guy of DB's flaws; he's gonna be one of the guys creating a stupid thread asking wtf is wrong with the bot he just paid for

and last but not least, think w/e the fuck you want. I know more than 50% of the people here would side with me in this matter

Turns out, you don't just push the 'on' button and watch the money come in.

Moral of my post:
The money still comes in; it is worth the effort.

Yes the "truth" is supported by only 50% of people as opposed to 100% seeing as it's supposed to be the "truth" and all. DB only works 50% of the time? Do 50% of the people here find it that difficult to set up a simple program? Fucking 50% man.

Ya I press the 'start' button duh!!

but on a more serious note, it is POSSIBLE to get the bot afk'able. That doesn't mean it won't crash 100% overnight, but it is possible to get a relogger that works and profiles that work. Best advice I can give is read the forums and see if you can set the bot up yourself without having to post too many questions etc. This is because the bot requires quite a bit of work in the form of updates, changed plugins etc and if you can';t manage to do these each update yourself eventually you'll realize it IS frustrating asking around each update on what you have to do.

To set up a simple program so it works properly and stay up, there happy? There's no possible argument with a person that believes the nonsense they spout out is the "truth" anyway.

I make plenty of money off this game. I'm not complaining one bit. but like I said before, it is frustrating when ur shit doesnt stay up like you WANT it to. That is our friend Murphy helping us out

Don't throw out stupid percentages that make no sense. Yea there are people that are having issues, and there are those that don't. I'm sharing my experience of managing to keep my bots up 24/7. Can I do that please dear sir? Get off your high chair. When I say nonsense, I mean your idiodicy in claiming something as "truth" when it clearly isn't, it is situational, get it? Best of all, you're answering a question the OP never even asked. Not bagging on the DB team my ass, it's a blatant attack.

To actually answer the OP, barbs are the most beloved ones. Monks come after and there are some that advocate Witch Doctors as the up and coming go-to char. Some favor Wizards as well. With all that said, you'll probably find better advice for barbs and monks simply because there are so many people using them. As far as I know barbs and monks are on equal footing when it comes to farming efficiency. They can equally gear up in similar value of gear and pull in rather similar results, so take your pick.

For levelling up, if you choose the botting route, there is a questing profile that requires some baby-sitting and manual play when it comes to bosses, but it'll get the job done in terms of leveling.

If you choose manual play it's not that difficult. You can gear up in relatively cheap gear (5k-20k per piece every 10 levels) and handle Normal MP 10, Nightmare MP5, then Hell in whatever MP your gear can handle at the time. It'll be a lot faster than botting because you're gaining a huge boost in EXP from the MP.

You can effectively farm A3 champ with 5m-20m gold in gear. As far as what to buy though you'll have to do research on that on your own. You should be able to find some benchmark stats on the forums. If you're planning on MP0-1, focus on getting as high DPS as possible while maintaining decent survivability stats (Unbuff stats - Barbs 500 all resist, lifesteal belt, maybe some LoH/ more lifesteal on weapons | Monks - http://www.thebuddyforum.com/demonb...ective-monk-build-act-3-champion-farming.html)

teamviewer free app, i monitor my comp with my phone while im at work / out to make sure its running :D

and i use dbrelogger , no worry on crashes, only thing that gets me is sometimes gettin stuck on resume screen
 
that's the only thing that is saving me is teamviewer. when I leave for work im gone for 2-4 days usually in a row.
 
I started few days ago, bought a new account, leveled my barb to 60 in like 5hrs or so (by hand), and then started using DB. Idk how its for everyone else, but for me something always crashes or stops working, iv been trying to run the bot for 3days straight, longest run w/o crash = 7hrs. I have to babysit this bot a lot (im checking in on it every hour or two, leave unchecked at nights), but thats probably because im still new to all this and dont know how to make it fix itself..
 
If my bots aren't running its because of battlenet maintenance. Sounds like operator error
