"The monk cannon" - a budget fast and effective monk build for Act 3 champion farming

Does the current combat routines that come with trinity work with this, or do they need tweaking? There are a few custom ones in the first few pages of this thread, but that was from 3 months ago... they still work?
 
I'm using this build and it is pretty decent. However, is it "normal" to have 4 deaths/hr and only 15m xp /hour? Having 70k dps before buffed, 4k life on kill etc. So whats wrong here? Anyone can help me buy and upgrade my monk aswell?
 
Would it be worth the expense of swapping from this build to TR, now that TR has gotten buffed?
 
depends if tr is implemented well enough last time i checked there were quite some issues. but if its actually managing to hold tr down and rush for big groups/elites it sgoulsd be a great build

This is a new build based on the changes in 1.0.7

This build is intended for people willing to pay a little more to get better stats

What you need: ~10 spirit regen per second - this is gained using SoJ + Inna Helmet - each with over 1.7 spirit per second, Templar with spirit regen boost and using a 2 handed weapon for the bonus 35% from passive, and 2 spirit per sec passive.
The idea: Large amount of trash mobs - AoE wave of light, Elite pack - AoE Wave of light. 1/2 Trash mobs or 1 elite almost dead - Dashing Strike for 3 seconds 25% movement speed boost.

I used this with Inna Set and items with AR on (not using OwE), getting around 400-450 AR should be enough for mp0 with a little Life Steal or Life after Kill.



I'm currently working on changes in Trinity to make dashing strike logic work properly, once done it will be integrated into future trinity releases.
This works pretty nicely netting me ~500-540 items per hour.

You can also try without inna set using the 20 second rune for Sweeping Winds or with Inna Set and using the Fire Rune for bigger radius (i like cyclones they do alot of AoE damage and with high damage 2 hander their damage output is really nice).



At the moment Tempest Rush doesn't work properly with Trinity, meaning even with 14 spirit regen it breaks channeling too often and I find myself left without any spirit (TR uses around 8-9 per second on my bot).
This is why this alternative is good, it lets us clear areas pretty fast and advance quickly to the next mob.

Had very good results with Monk Cannon prior to the Dec 18th ban. Small time botter, bot my play account, didn't buy another key until this week. Leveling a monk and going to bot again. Is this build still as effective as it was previously?

I still prefer to have more LoH than LoK. Obviously LS is better but this is a budget monk after all :D:D
 
Tess any chance you are preparing a mini guide with minimum stats and perhaps items like you did previously? I love my monk but i know nothing about what items are available ... Pretty much the same reason why i suck at pricing items ...
 
possible to build a 50m monk that can do MP1 decently? What should i buy?
 
Lets discuss gearing for once. I usually go with. 4/4 Innas. Helm Preferably with n eat bonus like pickup/regen/damage. Boots/Shoulders High Dex little to no Vit and on one of them at least Pickup alot of res. Rings Ats/Krit Dex/Vit one ress+. Gloves also ast/krit/dex/vit/at least one res. Amulet CD/CC but since its expensive ats/cc will do high dex /avg dmg if possible vit/+life should be there to because we wont have tha tmuch hp.

What kind of weaps are you using im still going with my swapping 2hander but i guess good dual wield combo would be neat for higher mps
 
Well as for my items atm..

My testing monk is currently on mp2/3 with 4 piece inna set with 20-30 AR, other items nothing special..
CD / CC / AVG DMG / DEX / AR

Went for maximum clean damage which means 1 hit as much dmg as i can, not based on attack speed.
I have 10 spirit regen (2 on helm, 2 on SoJ, templar + passive + 35% bonus due to two handed passive).

So i just spam the hell out of the 40 spirit 820% dmg bell.


I believe it is also possible to go with less spirit regen and use OwE and get same effect but i decided i want to try this (and it is easy to swap to TR build if it ever works)
 
Well, I spent some gold and got myself the 4 piece innas, and made a tweak to my passives....now i'm getting 500k gph, and 19k xp per hour (with a 27% ruby in the helm)....dps went from 92k buffed, upto 122k buffed. only downside is that i lost a big chunk of resistance...from 800 down to 505 (still using one with everything)

I will keep making gear changes to get back some of what i lost but i am really enjoying the 1.0.7 changes....i just need a bit more survivability to take on higher MP levels (currently smashing through MP3 with the monk, with minimal losses of life)
 
anybody knows how badly inflated the old versions were? i dropped from 1000iph to 350-400 which is really exessive
