Well i guess this would be a good adition to the game.

Imagine that D3 has less and less players each day, the ones that come back or start playing are in no condition of having top tier itens (but they want to)
The old guys with good itens just quit and those good items disappear from AH.

If they dont make valuable itens appear more oftenly, the only few good itens that are posted on AH will be inflated and no one will want to buy anything.
Blizz loses more players and more money.

Whats the point of doubling the drop rates? They double it at the beginning of the new patch, then they just nerf the shit out of it like a week later and then next patch comes along, they say they're gonna double it again, so they make it seem like they quadrupled it but in reality, the drop rates went no where since release.

Right now I consider myself lucky if I get ONE legendary botting for almost the whole day. I have no doubts that they decreased drop rates over time. I find nothing but shit nowadays while a couple weeks ago, one good item was considered a bad day.
