Crew Skill-wise I would just be looking for something that could skill up. At the moment I don't feel it would need to be too fancy (e.g. Knowing what items you want from a given skill) but should be able to select orange and yellow quests if present within the highest skill window.

Hardly useless, i run a similar route with 11 chests total. Since it's all instant profit and you aren't relying on server population or competition on the GTN. Combine the route with some bioanalysis nodes or slicing / scavenging and you can still make a tonne of credits.
