Stuck on downloading mesh

Not possible.
Try getting a router to plugin into the wall.

I go through the same process and I work just fine.

A router is a good choice.

"Plan B" might be a VeePeeN (forum silliness: Vee = V, Pee = P, N = N) to tunnel through your University firewall to an outside server. But, getting that set up can be a beast (and far far beyond the scope of the Honorbuddy forums), and it may cost you a slight performance penalty, but the connection should be serviceable.

cheers,

I don't think I can do that.
This is what it says in the Usage Policy

1.2. Restrictions (all users)
• Sending emails via SMTP except through the University SMTP
server (smtp.nottingham.ac.uk)
• File-sharing websites such as RapidShare and **********
(including paid-for and subscription services). These sites may also
be blocked by the secure web gateway.
• Access to external Virtual Private Network (***) except those to
other The University of Nottingham campuses at Ningbo or Malaysia

SNS Fair Usage Policy 2011/2012 Page 2 of 2
• Using anonymous ***** services or any service designed to bypass
restrictions on the SNS
• Operating a computer or device which provides services to other
users, such as a file server or any network equipment or software
designed to allow multiple computers to share a single connection
such as Apple's Time Capsule, routers (wired or wireless), switches,
hubs and printers
• Using two network connections at once, for example a 3G USB
dongle as well as a wired connection to the SNS.

I can see all the meshes .etm s that HB downloaded before I came to uni, they are all pre mop tho
Can you copy meshes of someones elses computer who already got them there?

It says nothing about a router in what you pasted.
Them not allowing routers is absurd.
It is even encouraged at my school.

Anyway, We don't allow the sharing of meshes.
And it's not like you can just grab meshes and go and expect everything to work fine forever.
Meshes constantly update.

It seems like you are limited by your location and unfortunately that is not on our end.

Would it be possible that you could have access to some sort of outside wifi network?

It obviously is on my end, but now that we are certain of that, I'd like to see if there is an alternative solution.

Unfortunately no :/

If I do create that tunnel, will the network admins be able to see it?

if you have it encrypted (as you should) they can see the traffic, but wont know what it is.

So they will be able to see the traffic, but they won't be able to tell what it is? I mean if I use that service from my previous post, can they actually see that my connection is going through ports that they usually not have open, or will they see just normal encrypted traffic and won't be able to tell if im using a VeePeeN tunnel?

they should just see normal encrypted traffic, not like you can really, SEE traffic in real time and pull stuff out.
