i only collect the flawless square smaragd gems, they are worth a little bit when you craft them or not. and the red ones, for personal use with my barb.

Honestly to make use of them you need another character running Hell Azmo or equiv for the Tomes to upgrade them. Depends how important gems are to you really. After all slotted up on max gems I would probably stop looting gems all together. Problem is that square tome doesn't drop in inferno.

Don't pick up anything but Flawless Square Emeralds, rest is a waste. I do have a stockpile of the rest of them in case I need them for something down the road.
