Source Code Requirements.

I think we ought to have a rule here. If you want to release a CC or plugin, you should HAVE to include the source code. This is getting completely annoying. Seeing errors in stuff or wanting to upgrade something in it and not being able to. Suggesting something then waiting a month to see nothing done on it.

Do the admins look at source code before they allow people to release a DLL form plugin or class? You could do some serious damage to someones computer using this type of file.

I totaly agree with wired420! also /Signed! Wired for president :D

http://www.microsoft.com/express/downloads/ DL the C++ 2008 Express. Learn it, use it love it. You can view .dll and change code to them with any program that allows you to view .dll files. If your saying it's should be required then you must not know anything about coding if you didn't know that you can use a simple C++Program to edit .dll files.

I think this thread should be closed.

And the .CC's can be opened with Notepad and be edited that way.

Amazing, s.o. posting s.th. that makes sense in here. Is it the right forum?

Actually if you go look there are some that have been made so you can't open them on purpose... Maybe you should ask questions before you assume you have the knowledge of what someone else knows. If you don't like my post. Don't bother replying. Mind your own business.

Oh and your Express is crap. Get a real coding program like Visual Studio 2008 Team. I'm sure with all your massive banks of knowledge it wouldn't be too hard to download.

Your edited should also say... Forgot to let unfounded trash spew from my mouth.

every CC that has been create i could post the code. So before you make accusations about somebody make sure they are correct. I am Currently in my last year of College for Computer Programming. I have personally looked at most of the cc's i have dl'ed. I edit them to my liking before I even decide to use it.

Wow... For being in college you sure do jump on forums and flame like a little kid instead of expressing your opinion in an adult fashion.

Nerd Rage 4tw!

You obviously have no idea wtf you are talking about. "College for Computer Programming"? FAIL.

Its ok. Some people don't know about source locking or obsfucating (sp?, Never claimed to be a spelling genius)....

Computer programming? He was probably thinking of Computer Sciences or Information Technology. But its obvious he's never been to either as he doesn't know what its called.

Or just running some scrambling software on it would keep most people out.... But yeah... I don't know what I'm talking about.

FYI all closed source apps are checked by a dev before they are allowed to be posted. You can see proof of this in the few plugins that were dll-based that we removed because the author didn't release the source. We were going to remove the ability to load DLL's to keep source open, but decided to allow it for CC devs that didn't want people messing with their code or stealing it.

If your so worried about it being stolen you shouldn't release it at all. I mean I could open the DLL's if I wanted to waste my time. Just seems like an awful waste when some of us can edit them ourselves. Now instead we have to go make an entire CC or plugin to get it to do what we want. I think you should reconsider removing the ability to load DLL's and make it open source or nothing for public plugins/cc's.

All of mine will be open, as will most of the developers, but some prefer their code be closed for various reasons (stability, not having to recompile on the fly, not having the source available to the general public, not letting people steal it and take credit for it without working for it). Keep in mind most writers will give you their source if you ask for it, too. Its still a gray area, but at the moment we are going to allow dll's from trusted developers. That may or may not change before release, but I don't know.

we are thinking to make a more secure system for user releases

dont post dev names here plz cause you are going to create panic

as an example Mord is with us for a long long time
and his work on Glider forums is well known
he is one of the best CC developers

some of you are new to the botting community and you dont know who you can(or you can't) trust
leave this to us,is our job and we are almost 24/7 online on forum

That's why I left names out of my post. Can't control what others say tho....

Mines not so much as a security thing as it frustrates the hell out of me when I see my CC doing something stupid like chasing a runner into a ton of npcs, then I have to submit my idea about it, Then if they don't like it I get flamed, or if they aren't around it can't be updated... Just leaves you stuck either having to steal their code or write a whole new one. From what I can tell these CC's were written to help other people bot. Now they are going into secrecy where no one can edit, and everyone does the same thing. It not only looks suspicious in game when every pally is doing the same things, or every priest is doing the same things, but makes others not want to contribute anything they do either.
