Using your build, with 22k DPS, 45k hp, 850 all resist, and 2200 life on hit:
Act 1 test: easy enough because everything dies so fast. 100% viable
Act 2 test: Viable, but calling it better than a barbarian is laughable.
It works well when the mobs don't run past your pets, and aren't arcane enchanted/desecrator waller. If an elite bothers to come hit you, you'll die. If you get hit by arcane enchanted like two times, you die. My barbarians (even the cheaply geared one) perform act 2 much better. Granted, if I managed to get 35-40k dps, while maintaining my allres, this could be efficient simply because I would kill the mobs very quickly. I think spirit walk could be a useful addition here.
In my opinion, a barbarian is a much better *starter* character. The reason for this is because you can find gear with str/vit/allres/mf for cheap enough to build a viable barbarian for act 1, and maybe even act 2.
My WD didn't cost that much to build, but it has no MF. getting MF in addition to my current stats would have cost millions more.
I think a WD will work well if you have money to throw at it, but i'm still skeptical of it's act 3 potential. The mobs in a3 just hit so much harder than even act 2 ones do.

I assumed nova = Acid Cloud and Crickets = locust swarm
Devious21, do you do Act2 (barb) with avoidance off?
I use giles combat replacer w/ avoidance on
What passives do you use on your barb? I mean, I have some pretty good stats myself, but that's with offensive passives (ruthless, weapons master, inspiring presence). Do you use superstition for the 20% magical damage reduction and/or nerves of steel?
Superstition, Nerves of Steel, Ruthless
Yeah thats where the problem pops up. My damage is ridiculously low with those passives. I get about 1.1k all res, 9k armor, but only around 15-17k dps, and I can barely handle A3. Sure I can tank a shitton, but the damage is just bollocks.
My *better* geared barbarian has 25.5k dps, while using those passives. He can do act 3, but he dies between 2-5 times per hour depending on his luck
46k hp 900 All res, 550 LOH, 9600 armor, 18% block
2-5 times per hour is kinda a lot :/ I guess whirlwind tornado is the only way to go if you really want to be able to do it fully? Is it really impossible for a frenzy barbarian to solo act 3 with a sword and board?
