Some getting-started questions!

I'm going to start using HB, for me it's not about using it to make tons of gold necessarily, I mostly just want to save some time, or in some cases (I have a family for example who is bothered when I play too much), so I'd like to be able and sit and watch TV with them and still keep an eye on the game but not necessarily do all the fishing, archeology, etc manually all the time).

Also, the Questing feature this sounds like a nice way to level some alts that are currently low 90's!


My first question, is the LFR/Dungeon feature... Does this only work if the "leader" is running HB too, or I can simply have it queue for dungeons and it joins 4 other random players? This is a very cool feature just making sure I understand it, as I only have on WoW account.

(Also can this do a tanking role or just DPS?)



What is the best way to disable HB when I don't want it to be running/automating? For example, I might have it do some fishing or whatever but then I'll want to take over and just play like I do now.


My other question is not really a question but more for some advice. This is my only WoW account and I've had it a long time so I want to be very careful about not getting suspended or banned. I read some advice like not running this 24/7, so that's fine I won't run it overnight when I typically sleep and I'll give it breaks during the day too...

But I'm looking for any other best practices to reduce the risk of getting into trouble using this, so any advice on that would be much appreciated.

Regarding dungeons, so long as you aren't a tank then yes you can run HB and queue with random people and it will play for you. So just DPS and I believe heals but I've never ran it on a healer.

You can bring up the HB window and just click stop if you'd like to take over and play by hand.

Something you'll read all over the forums is "Don't bot on an account you aren't willing to lose". This is very true so be careful. I'd recommend not botting any longer or at times that a normal person wouldn't be playing at. So I wouldn't recommend running the bot to play from like 1am to 9am. Try and make it look like your account is playing as "normal" or human like as possible.

Personally I try to keep my bots from running any more than 9-10 hours a day and try to keep them off a set schedule. Don't run them for 8-10 hours every single day during the same exact times.

Just keep everything as human-like as you can. Happy botting

get a second account if you want to experiment botting. add it to your battlenet if you are going for achievements and they will both benefit. many many people share battlenets so its not a big deal if both accounts are running at the same time.

dont be a dummy and yolobot, unless of course that is your goal. if you want to keep your botting account for awhile, bot in moderation.

ffs, dont bot on your main account unless you just dont care anymore and dont mind it being banned tomorrow. because it can happen.

dont ever, ever, ever tell anyone ingame that you bot. not your friends, not your guildies, not random people. if you wouldn't trust them with your car, dont tell them you bot. people get mad, bored, sad, or just on a random whim, and let it slip you bot, and next thing you know, reported. it only takes one report to get eyes on you.

did i mention not botting on your main account?

Thanks that's good advice, I think I will do that and get a second account to keep my main account safe.

You mentioned adding a second account and adding it to my battle.net account? Can you please elaborate on that I'm not sure how that works exactly (how do I sign up for the 2nd account, do I use a different email address, how do I then link it to my battle.net account?)

Doesn't Blizzard consider the entire battle.net account? I am surprised that having two accounts linked wouldn't cause both to get banned.


On that same note.. say I bot on this new account... what are the safest ways to transfer gold to my main? I assume if I mail lots of gold that will attract attention. Does my main put ice milk on the auction house for 50k gold and my other account buys it? Or what are some other transfer methods I can consider.

sign in to your battlenet. go to account, you may need to log in a second time when you go to the account page. then navigate to the blizzstore. you get the option to buy world of warcraft. go now, before the 5th, and you will get it for 10usd. when you purchase it, it will be added to your battlenet.

log into the game and you will now see 2 options, wow1 and wow2. wow1 may be named depending on how long you have owned your account, wrath or older, you may have named your account, pre-battlenet. but, wow2 is your second account.

once your second account is a couple days old, you will want to RaF it to your main account. yes, you definitely want to do this. open wow1[main] and click your social tab, its the one with your friends list. you will see a new shiny button top right. click it and enter your battlenet. follow the instructions and win.

my advice is to level toons together for the first couple toons. run your main manual with the second account dungeonbuddy assist mode. come back when you need info on that.

you will get 3 levels a dungeon and level to 50 in a couple hours. after that, leveling will be slightly slower, but not much. you can also run dungeonbuddy with both toons if you babysit and chat every once in a while. again, safety for your main account is your priority.

within a week, you can have 2-3 chars on your farm account and a couple on your main. and bonus, you get grant a level. one level for every 2 gained on your second account. have that mage stuck at 58, go grant a level that toon up to 85. @85 you can do panda starter quests, with pretty much any gear level. last dk i grant a leveled, i started questing and never died all the way to 90. and with nerfed xpee requirements, it takes only a couple hours.

enjoy yourself and dont risk your main.

edit- if you havent run two accounts before, you stick the wow.exe shortcut on your menu bar, and mouse click it to open a second wow window. protip, took me a whole day to figure that out, years ago.

I'm still confused how Blizzard doesn't consider both to be owned by the same person, if/when my new account gets banned how does this not affect my original account since both are under the same battle.net account? Don't the toons on the "new" account see the same RealID friends as the "MAIN" account?

I'm just not clear on how this protects my main, yes it's a different WoW game/account but it's linked to my battle.net account where my main is.
