I have a wireless router with 4 LAN slots. My computer is connected trough ethernet cable to the router. I also have a usb wlan adapter (from the times before i had wireless router, used it to make hotspot for my gadgets). So the question is: if i plug in usb wlan and connect to the router, will my windows see it as a second connection different from ethernet one? saying if it does, then my ethernet connection will be connection1 and wlan connection connection2.
will i then be able to use vpn software to take over say connection2 and route all of it's traffic trough vpn network and still have connection1 normaly to my isp? then i could choose wich programs use what conenction (and no i don't mean wow dont go on saying wow looks for cpu id)
 
It might be possible if you configure the firewall not to allow that process on one connection and only allow it on the other.

Another possibility would be to use a load balancing software that is able to prioritize traffic and forward it through a interface depending on the rules you establish.
I am not really sure any of this would work ;).
 
But wireless and wired connections to the same router will be seen as 2 separate connections?
 
This can be done, yes :)
a VPN software like Proxifier can choose what network interface to use, you just need a program that manages which connections uses which interface. Try to check Lowerping

This can be done for sure, all you need is to create a route to the VPN server to let it go through wlan interface ip as booth will be the same router, same range, but diferent adresses. But it?s nonsense to have such work on this setup as probably 1 network card can handle it all.
 
One thing you must make sure to do (no matter what os u use) is to make sure your trafic dont aytomatically re-route to another interface if the vpn goes down. Also, depending on why you want the vpn, you might want to configure your dns so you dont leak dns infirmation. (dont use the dns you got from you ISP and dont use a dns cache that is on your local LAN)
 
heres the thing, im sure with DD-WRT or OPEN-WRT, you can get two of them pair them up, then stick one at your friends house, then set yours to bind port 4 or whatever to the VPN, it not out of the realm of possibility.
