Not necessarily. Minus Dungeons and dragons online most of the f2p mmo's are doing quite horrible in the population department. Wow as a recognized e-sport would melt to nothing and the pvp crowd would move on from wow to another destination if it goes where you say it will. 7-8 million players is 10x more then any mmo has right now and screaming the sky is falling at this stage of the game is here say and little else.

Not really profitable, and I highly doubt it would sustain blizzards rising costs to operate. Its guaranteed that a lot of the hardcore players will stop playing wow due to the fact that items can be bought with real currency vs having to achieve the items with skill and with other skilled players.

Blizzard is in la la land... among some players who have this idea that their FANTASY items in game actually have real currency value. Its these types of people who belong in a mental institute. MMO is a niche market and no real sane human being would go for it. Besides, the US government ought to ban this type of currency exchange for imaginary items.

In essence these types of companies are devaluing the dollar.

You call your credit card company and say that goods were never received for your payment. Paypal, being the little bitch nobody that it is, has no power over big banks. So unless the seller can show proof of delivery (they cant because its virtual), the buyer gets the money back and paypal cant do shit

I believe this is one reason why paypal practically forces you to add your bank account, and also practically forces you to use their bill me later system. Because it puts the power back in their hands. FUCK THEM . always use your credit card, they are on your side. Paypal is a piece of shit

How is botting over?

Blizzard offered USD to Gold conversion in Diablo 3. Sadly the price was always too high, so lots of players just decided to buy elsewhere.

By doing this Blizzard is opening up that its okay to buy and sell gold. And thus people will not get banned for doing so (main reason why people dont buy gold).

What above poster said about the ISKs is very interesting, exactly the same example must follow in WoW. Gold prices will decline, but where will they stabilize? And where will they start? Those two are questions not yet answered.

Also you must understand that there's a finite market for game time. When you have loaded your account with a years worth of game time, there's really not much point in buying more...

If you make a normal distribution curve of players with more than 5000 wow gold. Youll find some interesting results. The majority of WoW players with a level 100 character that pays the monthly fee and play the game actively will probably have less than 25000G. And then there's probably around 10% of the players with more than 200k...etc etc you catch my drift.

I just dont think average joe will pay more than 20k gold for a 1 month token, which makes the effective price of gold if the token costs 20€ = 1€/1000G.

Why is this good for us? Well its good because we can sell for 0.2-0.5€ and be fairly happy.

You must understand that farming gold is easy for us gold-farmers that use bots. But try doing it without a bot and you'll quickly understand why there's a market.

So effectivly what is this? It's a tax on bots and an attempt of taking a chunk of the small spenders that navigate to chinese gold seller websites. Because no one that is going to spend more than €50 on gold is going to do it by blizzards way if they are getting twice the amount of gold by visiting my webpage.

Load your character with 5 million gold for 3000€. You wont be able to break 660 itemlevel. Do you think the hardcore players care if people stroll around on spectral tigers just because they have money? No they dont give a shit.

If you're in a kickass guild and you raid 20 hours a week. You are ALWAYS going to have better gear than every casual player, even if that casual player makes millions/year.

Ofc this is not true if the player buys mythic boosts and all the gear yada yada...but kinda hard to regulate that now isnt it?

Paypal cant do anything vs this. They're forced to give the money if they cant prove that there's a fraud going on. I'm sorry that you obviously lost money to some fraudster. But now you learn, there's a reason everyone is taking payment in these two formats:
1. Western union.
2. Bitcoins.

This defeats the purpose and is probably not going to be cost effective as the token will probably cost several dollars more than a months subscription. This price however is theory, however this is how Eve does it. Game time = $14.95/mo where as a PLEX (same thing as the proposed Game Time Token) = $17.95/mo

Note 2: In Eve, the ISK (gold) value of a PLEX has NEVER gone down. It increases on a regular basis, but the price of a PLEX in real money stays the same, thus effectively lowering the value of the in game currency

What you are saying about ISK-PLEX is weird. It seems by simple logic that there's something artificial about that market. Either there's extreme inflation going on in EVE or the game makers are buying the cheapest PLEX as they pop up to drive price up. For them its just a push of a button to generate any # of ISK. According to a webpage I just read the difference between buying a PLEX then converting it to ISK or buying straight ISK on a RMT-site is extremely small. Like 20.5 usd vs 20usd.

No physical item, no sale.

The only thing either you guys are overlooking or I am overlooking is that "tradable game-time tokens" means "game token" and "game time token" these are 2 different things and from what I understood it could allow players to exchange the tokens to literally anything within the wow store.

Being game time tokens for subscription time only and game tokens for items such as pets, mounts and the such.

Or perhaps I am just too high right now :P

I hope no one every sold gold. You can't sell whats not yours, it all belongs to Blizz and virtual goods are also not covered by PayPal.
So if you "sell gold" on which platform rename it.

I always sell the SERVICE to farm amount x of gold on y server :)
This way its a service doing something and not transfering the pure items :D
Sounds strange but it makes the difference ^^

Yea, that is how all the WoW Accounts are offered for "selling" on Ebay. Sellers techincally offer the service of their time and skills to level and gear X characters on the account.
 
If those transactions (token - gold) will be legit, then its new source of safe high ammount gold trading. Which i find awesome, sick of losing my trade accounts. As for the gold price, well for normal countries its major hit yes. Im living in 3rd world where average salary with later crysis and oil price drops is 150 usd atm, so low gold prices still profit (energy price also low atm). Will need just farm more, maybe add mor ebots rigs. But it will be same kinda.
 
It's smart of Blizzard because it doesn't curb the mass of bot users, instead it goes after the scammers selling fake/expired GameTime cards.

I like Blizzard's approach to botting, wouldn't you just love to listen in to their meetings about it all!?

I mean... Blizzard could try and cut out botting 100%, but they don't because I'm sure their numbers corroborate what we all suspect -that a huge majority of players actively bot be it rotations or gathering -but the seedier side (selling of gold, or expired GT cards etc) needs addressing. It cuts out a problem without affecting what has to be the majority of botters whom bot for personal benefit.

Just my thoughts, and I think Blizzard's relationship with botting is pretty smart.

Well me personally I didn't lose money. I bought and account and the scumbag reclaimed it. So *I* did the chargeback and the scumbag lost his money that I gave him. This is how I learned the process
 
It's a joke imo. Botting or no botting they can't ban for the same action they're now partaking in. Oh wait, they sure can cause they're not profiting off of YOUR time.

Semantics aside, it's greedy and pathetic. They admittedly ruined the mmorpg genre by making a cupcake game and now they're finishing the job by removing any pride or effort from earning your own gold. It sickens me. I've never bought gold, earned every penny I have via the auction house, and have played mmorpgs while the genre was still pure and valid and before bots or rmt were even a thing.

I'm disgusted. I hope this ruins the game for them as it did for mmorpg gamers years ago. They foolishly left the door open for real games like pantheon to return to form when they announced their new game as a freakin fps. Think they may have had a chance at keeping wow profitable for atleast another few years, but not for another entire generation/mmo development cycle.

Oh well - I'm getting off topic and am past caring. Beating a dead horse but I'll say it anyways, blizzard is clueless. fwiw to those of you who sell gold.. In wildstar this system didn't stop botting. Maybe even allowed it to thrive. It did drive the price down though. Prices that are already shamefully low.

GG economy with this expac anyhow and what they did to professions. GG even further now. QQ
