So i definitely just got reported

When I get these kinds of threats I usually tell them that player harassment is considered far more severe..
99% of times they apologise and continue their oh so fun grinding :)

People have asked me am i a bot. I simply ask tell em that im adhd and ocd as hell and my tactics are simply efficient. They usually stop talking after i flood them with retarded responses like a kid that has had his allowance of sugar

Oh, also he said something along the lines of 'when blizzard gets my report of your char name they will just scan your computer and it will show that honorbuddy is running'

Illegal to scan outside of your process, correct?

NO ITS NOT CORRECT!!!! Read Rules of Agreement (wich you sign to log in) you will see that your signing Permission to Scan ALL your processes and since MoP now even the Ram(memory) !! HF & GL

I do whisper like this all the time. Never actually reported someone, but they always get spook'd ;)

Not true all ALL. They can't scan anything that isn't wow. They use to do this until they got sued for it. And quit. And the ram part is only for wow. Not anything else. Don't spread false info.

I have been botting for 3 plus years now as far back as the days of glider and have only ever recieved a 72 hour suspension. That being said you dont have to respond to anyone, if a GM contacts you or you get banned and go for an appeal, just play ignorant and say I didnt feel like I needed to validate a response to some kid talking about god knows what. Other than that just keep botting at a reasonable amount of hours and you will be fine.

But then why report me? i mean the rare pet market isnt something to corner, idk it just seemed dickish
To eliminate the competition.

Yes, any 7th grader--even Blizzard--will be able to guess that if he knows the exact bot you're using and the exact module of said bot, that he's likely a botter himself.

I've been botting since 2006, the days of glider for example. Never been banned, always have botted between 12-24 hours a day (depending on if I was home or away) I've used remote programs on my iphone to check in on the bot (since that's became a thing) and check it, change profiles /quest/grind/bg etc. I've sold over a grand worth of gold, Made millions... Farmed shit tons of ore, had threats of being banned... The moral of this is i've never been banned. I don't think it's worth blizzards time to "go back to your WoW history" to depict what you did and when. It's not just going to show up as "Blahblah traded 350k gold to blahblahblah." Thus making it, obselete. Most bans that people get now are auto bans. *Posting 200 stacks of ore on the AH at one given time.* Not logging off for a week straight, bging from level 15-85 in 2 weeks. Things like that red flag your account for an autoban. It's very rare that blizzard actually bans you. they only look into situations such as guild thievery, harassment, and such as those terms. I don't know about the "legal" consequences as I've honestly never read the ToA and EULA, but, I do know that I'm pretty sure they are not allowed to scan your hard drive. But I doubt the RAM sends anything about HB to the HDD to log, which would be encrypted anyway. (Not that Blizzard couldn't Decrypt it, but even then, it's not worth their time.) Once you power off you're computer, all data in your RAM is gone. Boot it back up and it's like nothing ever happened. RAM is volatile, thus needing power to function. And i'm very bored while botting BGs this morning obviously... <3

They cant report u for no answearing their whispers.. The only whisper u always have to answear is a GMS if u aint afk

I agree with A1l3n. Even if you say that they may scan, laws prevent them from doing so.

They scan everything they can, Blizz knows that kids who play their games aren't gonna sue them. That being said, buddy bots will not be detected by their scans, so just bot reasonable amount of hours per day and you will not get banned.

we've had a joke about this in my guild:
player reports a toon for botting.
GM asks "how do you know he's botting"
player responds "because he's moving the same as my bot!"

I think i've been lucky with my botting, I've missed GM conversations while botting (I had a ticket in for something) and nothing's happened. I don't usually farm or grind for more than 12 hours or so. But I also run a raiding guild and do tons of other things with my account. All of my guildies know and most of my friends know so they just leave me be and make fun of me for it later :P

Another interesting trend: the other day, I received a /w from someone who was convinced I was botting.

Actually I wasn't, since I was levelling that particular char myself. But he said I'm botting because "I passed by a few times and didn't attack his character". I told him that I'm too busy levelling and wasn't in the mood for pvp. The strange thing is that in order to be able to tell me this, he took the effort to log off his Alliance char, created a new Horde toon "name: asdffg" or something and reported me.

I'd say, it takes one to know one, right? So I assume he is a botter himself.

So somehow there's this weird behaviour of botters reporting eachother, even when there's the slightest suspicion (is not attacking the opposite faction suspicious behaviour? I don't think so).

Perhaps HB should have an option to attack the other faction as well ..

Botters should treat other botters with respect and ignore them in game, don't waste someones time with useless garbage, you surely don't want someone to annoy you when you are botting yourself, do you?

Block whispers below level 85. Log off for awhile if you're concerned. Switch to a different profile or pet to farm entirely.

this 85 logs out a level one then whispers me "you have one minute to answer me are you botting? if you do not respond I will report you"

Always hilarious.. Wtf answer did he expect, "Yes"?
