Okay well my older brother decided to quit wow and asked me if I wanted his account which already has the Cataclysm expansion, but the only problem I have with it is that he botted with it in the past. And by past I mean he botted with it about 4-5 months ago, and since then the account has just been frozen (Not Activated). And on November he renewed his subscription and later bought Cataclysm. So heres my problem. I would think his account would be ban free since I don't believe Blizzard would let detected botters run for more than a few months, but since his account's been frozen for a few months I'm not sure if it just delayed his ban since there was no activity for all those months or if he is actually ban free. Reason I'm asking this is because I don't want to waste my time leveling a toon to 85 to just get banned in the future. In case this helps he used HB, but not to the extreme 4-8 hours per day for a few weeks.
Should I play on a botted account vs fresh account?

Why did you make two threads? Anyhow to give my input, Im playing on a previously botted accunt for my main... and when I mean botted I mean 1-80 with less than 100 quests near 24/7 and then months of gb use. Once you get all the reputation grinds out of the way there really isn't a reason to bot unless you don't own a second account. Also there is a chance that once you add game time they will ban you but who knows.. it happened to this account Im using just before cataclysm came out.
Well my brother payed for a 1 month (November to December) and didn't have a problem. What kind of ban did you get? Were you able retrieve your account?
