Sorry for this question, I am very new to that "bot thing" and it could be a rather dumb question. I assume when i want to purchase a 3-session licence it also requires 3 different accounts (meaning I need to purchase Diablo 3 times)?

Three seasons means you can inject/attach to three different diablo copies at any one time, from any amount of computers/IPs, or any diablo account.
With one session, you have no limitations on the accounts you want to bot, just the amount at one time, so, if you want to bot two accounts, one all day, one all night, you can do that with one session since they're not running more than one at the same time. Three sessions means three accounts at once, one session means one account at once. If you want to bot three accounts, you will need to own three diablo accounts, yes.
