Does it sound possible to run 4 accounts botting, making 20k per day on average, making 2 million +/- gold per month.

Could that at least make me an extra $1,000 a month for extra fun money?

Everything is possible. You need to put time in this, not just gather and c.o.d. see link in my signature.
edit: gathering and c.o.d can be profitable, but those you supply with c.o.d is doing something with the ore/herbs. prospect/mill, flasks, potions.

Some of us do, actually. My 16 accounts are now farming $$$ as we speak. Why not everyone? First of all, it requires a lot of investment, both time and money. just managing 30+ accounts is already very hard job, plus there is a hardware requirement which'll cost you at least $6,000. Electiricty bills, lack of confidence about this industry, etc scares people away. If you don't learn how to make profiles/to merge or combine profiles, you have to buy them.
But this doesn't mean that everything will be done 100% afk.
As swift says, to have to spend time and money and save money for several things. Like electricity bills, banned accounts, more hb licenses and and and...also you have to sell your gold, just having a huge amount of gold doesn't make you rich :)
If you start with 1 bot and 1 account you will need some months until have...lets say 10 bots and maybe a computer that can manage them.
There are many things you have to care about if you start botting for much money.
You need much money or a long time to start.
 
Bear in mind that you need to know how to deal with accounts being banned and how to deal with trading gold to customers.
Not as easy as some make out and some people cannot deal with banning and quit when it happens.
 
i've had to sit at my computer for about 12-16 hours a day for the past 3 days unstucking my new set of bots.... it isnt fun, they get stuck on average 1 every 10 mins
 
4 bots are easily 65k+ a day without any effort from your side after the initial setup.
If your character are all on one server, you should run 3 farmers (farming herbs only) and 1 Shuffler.
Now you have 50k+ income just from shoulderenchants (more if your farmers are druids and you have decent profiles)

If your characters aren't yet completed, then you should think about running 4 farmers, 2 on each server. and 2 shufflers (on the same account, different servers)
This will net you slightly more gold, you can use your most effective profile multiple times and the most important thing: Selling Gold is much easier this way.
From experience: If you bot on one server and make 50k+ a day, the servers gold selling economy will become shit (medium server).

Why no mining ? 200 NPH with herb&mining < 150 NPH Herbing. You are 95% independent of your servers economy, only thing you have to sell is golden lotus (sells quickly).
Your Effort is about 10 minutes per day.

How many accounts would you suppose to need for this? and why would you have 2 farmers on the same server, competing with your self for mats doesnt make alot of sense.

@Maddog: you must have been really unlucky.... I just leveled up a toon from 1-80 in 4 days (the free blizzard gift for D3 players) and only had minor issues once or twice a day and one major malfunction due to some corrupt cache.

Untill you get banhammered and leasing rate is higher than you.

You would need 5 Accounts to be efficient in a) farming and b) selling gold for 2 servers.
4 farmers and 1 shuffle account.
And no, you dont compete with yourself. Even if you use the same profile on 2 farmers on the same server, the drop in Nodes/h is minimal because of the relatively fast respawn rate. The only way you can block yourself is, if you are running 2 farmers on the same profile and the profile is very short/small.

Yes, blizzard can ban you faster than you can level more farmers. seeing as it takes a minimum of 10 days to level a new account to 90 with kicks, you are running 10 hr days, blizz will catch that. add that to 2-3 banned accounts already on your ip, then yeah, blizz will catch that. there are always the people on here that say 'i run 24/7 for years and never get caught' but there are hundreds that get banned and just leave quietly. you will get banned. anyone that tells you otherwise is lying. the way you deal with it is up to you. sure you can run 15 bots all shuffling and herbing and milling around. but eventually blizz will catch them and you will have to level more farmers.

YOU HAVE TO BE DIFFERENT IF YOU WANT TO MAKE IT IN THIS GAME. make your own profiles, do the homework. if you run two farmers, run 2 different profiles. save your gold to level new professions. you really want to spend 2 weeks leveling a new farmer to have blizz hit them 3 hours after hitting 90? IT HAPPENS, IVE SEEN IT WITH MY OWN EYES, MORE THAN ONCE.
 
How do I make the bot hat is making the shoulder enchant take herbs from different GB slots?
Or do I just make the farmers mail the herbs?
 
Anyone mind sending me some good buyers of gold? I don't know where/who to trust and would love to make some extra cash on the side, I don't want monopoly, I just want to make 2-300 a month if possible? :)

You obviously start the levelling at level 80, not 0.

speak for yourself please. Sometimes people get unlucky, it happens. But my experience is that it takes several month to get banned (my farmers are active for around 2,5 months in mop now running 23hours/day). Usually the people getting banned are taking advantage of SOR, battlegrounds, public profiles or selling gold f2f etc. Blizzard has no detection of HB/GB2 for now. If you play on a high pop server, it is not unlikely you will get reported or at least whispered every day. Don't bot on high pop. Pick some decent medium servers. Also US get's a lot more banhammers than EU.
Kicks profiles are save, but you should always monitor the leveling process at day. People need to understand, they dont get banned because of some patterns, they simply got reported.
3h ban after hitting 90, please. You must have done something wrong...

Also: Don't advertise sales in chat, don't flood or even post too much on the auction house, do a dungeon every few days on your farmers. Answer whispers.
