Safest way to sell GB herbs/ore?

I have heard that it can be risky to put up too many auctions at a time of a single item at once. Is this rumor true, and if so, how much is too much? Would farming for 1-2 hours of herb/ore be too much to put up at once?

It's a long time to be gathering, but I think any regular person would do it too on occasion.

1-2 hours is nothing. i would put 10 of the same auctions at a time up. Before you post on AH look for private buyer. I genweerally do 5g cheaper then ah and for every 5 stacks i take 25g off. Thats how i find private buyers. and when your doing good deals they never ask questions

I put up about 100 stacks at a time, check your mail the next time to see who bought it all, usually someone buys atleast 25% if not half of the stacks.. then I send them mails and ask them whats up, its hard lately to get a constant price since at one point cinderbloom was at 100g then dipped to 60g now its up to 90g on both of my servers.. ore seems to stay around 50-70g.. so im always like well so far i sell out of everything at market price so i dont want to hurt my profit too bad by setting a price with a private buyer when prices change so much.

Dont really think there is a safe way?. I just try to find private buyers

I ussually put 20 stacks of each on AH. Check again if some sold I put back to 20.
I used to have a few private buyers before cata but they stopped when changed. I havent picked them back up, or others yet.
I tend to lose track of how much I send who. lol
Get them people that say "send me 20 stacks per day". Then another 10 stacks. I forget who i sent what then in hurry I just send with no cod. Its like omfg!
And since use postal I tend to miss who paid for what. Yeah. need to find a COD mod.
But yet private buyer best. Put on trade "WTS (linked item) bulk"
thats it. short sweet. people will bite. Most time they ask "how much?" give price. then next question most people ask is "how much you got?"
I always reply with "enough" or. "a few but can farm more if you want"
When I first started out I used to tell them how much I have. But that is mistake! When you say .. ohhh I got 4k of this herb, 3k of this one, 6k of this.
They go omg bot!

Another idea i have recently taken up with great success, is to have multiple AH posters, on the same account.

This way I can put a large volume of goods on the ah without appearing to be dumping a huge amount, I of course add them all to the whitelist on my auctioning addon so i don't start an undercut war with myself.

i throw em in the guild bank, mill em up on an alt, make some darkmoon cards and sell those... or sell the high end inks about 10-20 at a time in stacks of 7 just to piss people off

Sending 20 stacks to a "private buyer" seems so small to me, I have people that do that to me, but before cata I had buyers that bought everything I made each day.. that was nice.
