howdy,, i run 2 laptops and 1 pc via router.
i just got nailed yesterday and today, loosing both bots on my main pc.
by using a router, are my laptops showing as seperate ip addresses in the eyes of bliz? are my laptop bots safe (ish)
 
no, they show as the same ip to anyone on the internet. only on your local network do devices have separate ip addresses.
 
hmm,, thanks for the info..

they killed one account yesterday and this morning hit the second account on the same comp, left both my laptops alone tho (for now,,lol)

any ideas on what i should do to my pc befor i start up 2 more bots?,, reload a fresh install of d3? windows? if they are banning all on the same ip i should have lost 6 not just 2 accounts.

will it make any difference?
 
honestly, I would look into buying a V.P.N for a few dollars a month you can freely change your internet ip as often as you like.

I don't do anything different in between ban cycles. Luck of the draw.

Not like it would do anything :p
 
As far as I can tell, most cable based ISPs that I have used base the end-users IP off of the ISPs IP block + some conversion of the end users Modems MAC address.

The only modems that allow you to rotate the MAC (without buying) a new modem of course) AFAIK is the Motorola Surfboard. You need to run DDWRT (custom firmware), but it can be configured to rotate your MAC and restart on a schedule.

A lot of routers let you change your routers mac address, or at least every single one i've owned does.

Router =! modem

IP is based on modems MAC, sometimes the MAC of the router is passed to the ISP instead of using the MAC of the modem (comcast).
