Regarding AdF.ly.

I just saw a thread regarding this and it's a great little reward for all your hard work. I totally understand you that it's easier to monitor the links and make sure there's no malware. But have a little trust? I don't know how much / if you people trust me but I would never place viruses in my links. It's the least we should be allowed to do when releasing our PROFILES (not just like, AA CHECK OUT THIS VIDEO DUDE and there's an AdF.ly link).

we cant monitor it
we dont know where the files are being hosted and can be moved or changed or modified at anytime.
the bottom line is yes AdF.ly links work for you, you make money, but the end user it gives a crappy experience where they are dealing with ads. where who knows if the advertisers is a clean source and not chain loading javascripts and loading you up with viruses and who knows what. if you want add a donation link, they are fine, i have one, kick has one, and while i don't make anything making CC's i hear that profiles get some decent donations, but its really up to the community if they wanna support you or not. it shouldnt be about "hey lets make money off the ads" that's not right. this is an open source community where if people would like to donate to you they cant, they shouldn't be forced into a crappy experience just to use your profiles.

But, my example was my fishing profiles, in total they have about 5-6000 downloads (all versions), thats 20-24$. Converted to decent beers, you get 20-24 beers. And for 24$, id rather have ppl downloading it without any issues. What would be cool, was if Bossland made something ala Appstore, where people could sell their profiles, CCs and plugins. Then Bossland could take x% of the money for the service, and the rest would go to the writter/dev.

But i can also see many issues with this :/ Just look how in the payment issue forum with refunds and everything That said, it would prob also kill the community a little. But just by looking how many hours ive spent making these few profiles i have, i do not dare to think how many hours Kick, fps and all those people have put into creating stuff for us, and no doubt they deserves some recognition For myself, i can say i make the profiles because i like it, and the day i dont wanna do it anymore, i just quit, without pissing any1 off.

heres the thing, the paid plugin was meant to be that "App store" but people didnt like it, and we got a lot of backlash from it. and it would right now its a level playing feild where anyone can come in, and anyone can do what they need to do. if it was paid, there's not stopping anyone from making something like your profiles for free and for everyone to use, and then you would be mad that you wouldnt be making any money. yea you could make $24 from 1000000 link clicks but wouldn't a donation from a REAL PERSON with a real name for $24 have a lot more satisfaction then just a click count?

You're making it sound like I'm forcing them to use the profiles I've created. If they can't install a pop-up blocker or simply close them and don't want to pass a link before the download, hey, not my loss. It was just a wish. Who gets bashed in it's everyway. Not everyone CAN donate you know.

its not about the money, and like i said money though a donation is much sweeter then money gained from some soul less machine counting pageviews.
when someone finely does say "heres $5 for all your hard work" its a great feeling, and the burger, or beer, or whatever you buy with it will be much sweeter then something that isnt.

Anyways, go get a donate button from Paypal. I had it on my fishing profiles for a while, got 1 donation from a kind user And that kept me maintaining those profiles, along with the many downloads and kind comments and feedbacks. I love checking my thread to see how many users who have downloaded my profiles hehe. But maybe im abit odd heh

If we do it for one profile, we will end up with people rehosting all profiles and bumping threads to make money. Its not something we want and we certainly don't want the flaming and abuse that will start when more than one person is pushing the same profile.
