Recent Bans Poll

Hey guys,

Noticed quite a few guys that are saying they've been suspended for 72h right around the same time. However, a lot of people also stated that they've been botting for the last couple weeks and were not suspended. I suspect that there's something differentiating these two groups, and I have a suspicion it might be region (North America vs. Europe).

I'm kind of curious as to whether there is actually a correlation or not, so I'm starting a poll. Throw in your vote so we can narrow things down a bit!

For reference, the suspensions started occuring (from what I can see) about an hour before this post.

This group bans happen every couple weeks, since as long as I've been botting. Every week or two, Blizz goes through and (after this point it's only an assumption) investigates player reports, or certain players trigger certain red flags (possibly grinding too many of the same mob in too small of a time-frame, etc) and hits all the flagged accounts at the same time. My guess is they stack them up into some automated system which drops every week or two.

They seemed to have stopped for a while right around Cata, I imagine that's because there was so much chaos, it wasn't that high on their priority list.

These group bans happen like clockwork, however the reasons as to what causes them are all assumptions, so I'll save you all from mine as to not spread any false knowledge.

It's nothing to freak out about, the sky is not falling, etc. It's no different than getting banned individually once in a while.

edit: not saying this poll is useless, trying to gather information is always useful, just don't want anyone crying wolf for no reason. Carry on.

I'd say my poll has been a SUCCESS.


EDIT: On a more serious note, those concerned about a banwave or whether it's safe to bot can take the poll to mean that everything is right with the world and you should continue eating your cheese accordingly.

I'm in US, was botting 4 of my accounts on and off, some HB, some GB. None of them got banned.
One account that I was PL'ing for someone else did get banned. The only difference was the time I was botting on the accounts.

My accounts: 12-16 hours a day.
His account: 18-20 hours a day (his request).

Don't know if that means anything, just my two cents.

time has nothing to do with it. a lot of the goldsellers here, bot 24/7 or close to it
